The one thing the Indiana Legislature seems to be stressing from the opening day has hern -alary increases. First one group of officeholders i and then another appear- for an increase in -alary, ipul the chances an that before the legislature finishes ! its sixty days work, they will nil have received their increases, whether

deserving or not.

The one thing the present day of- —„ flee holder is asking, ami the request daughter Nellie,

is not from the low offices, hut from the lowest to the highest, is salary

I increases.

I The probabilities are that if the j officers now who are asking for sal- | ary increases, were given the opportunity, they would all he candidates . for re-election at their present -alar-

| ies.

But it looks as though the increase I will all he granted and in addition, i new offices will be created, ami in i the end, the taypayer will he asked to dig up a little more to meet the ad-

ditional cost.

HEROISM ON HIGH SEAS

That blizzard that the weather man predicted several days ago, was late in reaching this community, hut it arrived Friday morning and when it did come, there was no doubt about it being a regular blizzard. During the early hours of the morning, the wind came up out of the west. It brought a rapid drop in |tho temperature and during the morning, the wind was aided by snow, which cut like particles of glass, when it hit ones face. Th'- wind penetrated the heaviest clothing and those who were i ut said it wn a very dis1 agreeable morning. ,, fi - ■ ADVERTISE IN "THE BANNER”
