LAFAYETTE, Jan. 11— Close to 100 peek entries of the best white ami sweet potatoes in the state tire e.\peetd to be on exhibit at the ninth annual Indiana State Potato Show which will be held at Purdue University, January 14-18, in conjunction with the annual agricultural conference. An attractive prize li.-t has added to the natural do ire of state potato grnivei . to prove supremacy in their field ami grower-interest in the show is at its

height.

Approximately $2,500 in msli and premiums is offered to the winner- in the various da -ses, while th" growers will also compete for three pn ini prizes. A sweep, take, prize, a potato grader, will be awarded to the be t peck in the sltiHV. Although the -late of Indiana produces only a small per cent of the total commercial crop of potatoe:. due to the diversity of farming, the quality of Indiana potatoes is second to none, according to Purdue authoritit . Farm potato patches produce well, the cost of production i- low, and the yields are most satisfactory. Many growers have produced bettei than ."00 bushels to the acre, with some of the better grower.- approaching the lino bushel mark. Judging from these yields and the da s of potatoes to be -hown, the coming show will be among the top-noldicr in the

country.

No entry fee is charged exhibit'll who compete for the prizes, and all grower- are urged to bring in their peck samples of white and of .-wed potatoes.
