HOLI ( ON EERENCKS INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 28. (UP) — First step towards formation of a definite program for the 192!) general assembly which convenes in fifteen day was taken today with a conft renct of Republican senators with Elza O. Rogers, state chairman, here. The first statement made by Edgar D. Bush, of Salem, lieutenant gover-nor-elect, who presided at the conference, is that he will maintain a policy of “hands-off" in the contest for president pro-tem of the senate. Two known candidates for the post have begun active campaigning, they are James J. Nejdl, of Whiting, three times president pro-tem; and Denver C. Harlan of Richmond. A third entry in the senate leadership race was believed to be Alonzo H. Findley, of Kingman, active in the farm Id c. Three aspirants for the post of secretary of the senate are: Lelan Fishbac, who had charge of the Republican speakers’ bureau during the last campaign; Griffith Niblack, Indianapolis, and Zell Swain, who has served as secretary. Today’s meeting was to he devoted to a discussion of legislation promised in the Republican party’s platform. Of major interest on the platform was the plank favoring abolishment of the direct primary provision regarding nomination of governor and United States senator. The platform declares itself in favor of selection by the state convention of candidates for these two offices. The plank also sets out favor of nomination of congressional candidates in district conventions and the abolition of the presidential primary. ALL OVER INDIANA RICHMOND — The seventh annual convention of the Wayne county young peoples conference will be held here Friday and Saturday with appri ximately 200 in attendance.
