Geography and History of Erie Canal The lecture is a model lesson illustrating the principle of correlation in school subjects. One problem of the curriculum maker is to secure emphasis in relation of the different school subject. The glacial epoch carved out a pathway through the | mountain ystem of the eastern part ' of the l nited States from Lake Erie by way of the Mohawk River and the Hudson river. Man took advantage of the phenomenon ami built the Erie Canal. The following fact illustrates it economic importance, the price of carrying a ton of flour from the west to New York City was reduced from $100 to $10. It is possihle for a teacher to weave geography, history and literature into his teaching of this topic.
