The most surprising statement made by Mrs. Walker was that the rganization has during the past year loaned and given $100,000 to girls for (lucational purposes. Five hundred md twenty-five girls, she says, have teen educated through thf* Tri Kappa Scholarship Fund. One hundred and me were assisted last year. This, Mrs. Walker stated, is a record unqualled by any other group. She also told of the chapters having conributed $400 prize money last yeat o the Hoosier Salon for the purpose >f encouraging Hoosier artists in their work. She said that in addition

The Ford roadster owned by W. A. Murrdy and the Ford coupe driven by Hugh Owens crashed at the intersection of Walnut and Vine streets Friday evening, shortly after 6 o’clock. Neither driver was hurt but the Mundy car was damaged considerably. It is said Owens was driving on Walnut street and Mundy was on Vine street, the two cars coming together at the post officer corner. Elmer Webb, colored, was sentenced by acting Judge John H. James in tiie Putnam Circuit Court Friday afternoon to one to five years to the reformatory for escaping from the State Farm. Webb had been convicted of receiving stolen goods and hud been fined $200 and sentenced to six months at the Penal Farm. He entered the farm the latter part of last December and escaped February 12. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Biggs were called to Indianapolis Wpdm|$lay by the death of their grandson, Joseph Meyers. The funeral services were held from the Barth Place Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. T. J. Hartk on Friday. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mr. Meyers will be quite well remembered here, as he lived here some time, and was a meinbr of th Band during some of the war days. He was a member of after going to Indianapolis.
