Greencastle has gained approximately 2. r iO person a year since the Boy Scouts een.-ti w .s taken in 1924 and approximately three hundred persons a year according to the Federal census which wa taken in 1920. | These figures are based on statistics gathered through the co-operation of , postal officials and other local sta-
tistics and authorities.
Loyal Greencastle citizens will find ! much encouragement in the
the phenomenal growth of the city from authoritative evidence, from i such a dependable and conservative source as the United States postal service. It is the duty of the post office officials to check up on all person- entering the eity and becoming patrons of the office and all persons moving from the city. Each city carricr keeps a complete and accurate check on his route, having every family name and all persons living at the residences, on his books. As the postal service extends to every person in the city, the check on the population is as accurate as is poss-
ible to ascertain.
The figures which were compiled Saturday showed that approximately 6.44G persons are served by the local office; this total number is exclusive of the seven rural routes, near (Ireencastle, and the students attending DePauw university. With the addition of the students to the total city popuhave | l a (i(,]i, the city resident inhabitants } total slightly over 8,000 persons.

VINCENNES, Ind., March 31. — A rare reptile 13 inches long, weighing a quarter of a pound, having four legs and of a greenish color was < aptured recently by Russell Murpii-.y, in Duck Creek, west of the city. The water animal has been on display at a local drug store and has been viewed by several hundred persons, but none ha been able to d termine what kind of fish or wp-.v-r:
creature it is.
The reptile is kept in a fish bowl and comes to the top of the water every 1"> minutes for air. It’s chief 1 food so far has been fishing worms. ! 11. H. Evans, local attorney and prominent sportsman, was amazed at tin 1 1 fish, but he was unable to name it.
