The basketball game between Bainbridge and Clinton, played on the Bainbridge floor Friday evening and won by the crack Monroe township
was well worth the
and effort to get there. The game was witnessed by a howling mob of some 1500 to 2,000 fans, and not one went away feeling ho had not received his money’s worth in ac-
tion.
Bainbridge won by three points, hut we believe they have more strength than was shown in the final minute of this game. Had it been nece-sary to score additional markers to win, it looked as though they could have done it. The crack Bainbridge team exhibited the same smooth pa -ing and accurate basket shooting that has marked their play all season. Their passing was not as good Friday night night as in some former games, hut the competition was much stiffer and this might have accounted for the
difference.
Moffett started the fire works for his team, and in the first five or six minutes of play, he so red all the

field goals to start the contest. Clinton scored first, hut once Moffett got going, the loeals took the lead and were never behind, although the score was tied at 16. The half ended 11
to 12.
It was by far the hardest game Bainbridge ha.- played this year, but
After trailing the Franklin net squad for the greater part of the game, the DePauw Tigers staged a snappy come-back in the last half to take the Baptists into camp, 28-25 on the opponents court. The clash was fast and clean throughout with the Old Gold netters fighting an uphill battle until the last few minutes of play. Franklin displayed a nice offensive performance in the first half, hut the Baptists were checked by the brilliant defensive play of the Tigers in the second
frame.
Franklin started a whirlwind attack with the initial tip-off and counted five points through the scattered and bewildered DePauw defense. Both teams then settled down to careful offensive play until the score stood 14-9 in Franklin's favor. The Tigerled by Messersmith, rallied and ran thi' score to 15 points while the Blue and White squad was chalking up an additional three points. A few seconds later the first half ended. In the second period the Tigers played a successful offensive game, taking the lead soon after the tipoff. Tight defensive tactics for the remainder of the game kept them in the lead and the final gun found DcPauw re.-ting secure on a three point
margin.
Messersmith, Tiger captain, and Shirley, Baptist forward, were high point men in the clash with nine point . Messersmith was the ou‘standing performer for the locals on both offense and defense. Marshall, DePauw hack guard, broke loose to core six points. The Tiger yearlings made their season’ dehut in a 38-29 victory over the Franklin freshmen in a curtain raiser to the varsity game. Lineup and Summary: DePauw (28).
