'I'his is the sixth nation-wide campaign sponsored hy Better Homes in America, the educational organization of which Mr. Hoover is president. President Coolidge heads the Advisory Committee, which is composed of heads of government de- : partments and national organizations interested in improved housing conditions and in home and community life. Dr. James Ford, of Harvard University, is in active charge of I the work of the organization, as ex-

ecutive director.

The purpose of the Better Homes movement is to encourage and stiiqulate home improvement. Hendquar Iters activities are made possible through public and private gifts and the program is carried out in local j communities by voluntrer committeelof citizens whose chairmen are appointed by National Headquarters. More than 3.000 communities ranging in size from the smallest village of rural section to the largest metropolis, conducted programs last year. These consisted of lectures, contests, and domonstratinns and were designed to reach families of limited income.
