TO RUN A SPECIAL Harry Kenney and Edward Burke will go to Chicago next Wednesday night to run two of the spetcial trains ovetr the Monon to the Kentucky Derby which will be run Saturday. This year is the 50th running of the historic race and the greatest crowd in the history of Kentucky racing is expected to be present. Seven of these trains will go to French Lick first, spending one day there and moving
into Louisville Saturday morning. A j force of men is now at work building ' additional track at French Lick to accomodate the 80 or 90 sleepers and dining cars which will be there the night before the Derby. This year’s Derby will be a wonderful event in Louisville. Besides the Monon’s 15 specials, the Pennsylvania will run 14 specials from the east and north, the Southern 14 specials from the south and west, the B. & O. 12 specials from the east and west, the Big Four 12 specials from the north and east and the L. & N. 14 specials from the south.
BUTLER RAPS THE TIGERS
BULL DOGS WON TRACK MEET FROM D’PAUW THINLY- ( LADS, FRIDAY
Failing to display their usual form, the DePauw thinly clads lost an exciting track meet with Butler Friday afternoon at Indianapolis by the score of 76 2-3 to 50 1-3. Paul Jones, Tiger ace, was again
the autstanding athlete soaring over the bar in the pole vault at the height of 12 feet, 6 inches. He also took first in the broad jump and tied for first in the running high jump. The other Old Gold trackmen were seemingly not up to standard and fell down in most of the events. This afternoon the DePauw and Butler base ball team crossed bats on Irwin field. Coach Ashmore and his proteges left for Indianapolis early
Saturday morning.
