WASHINGTON, March 6—President Coolidge has “re-opened” the question of Attorney General Daugherty’s resignation, according to information to persons close to him. Recent developments which ha •» furnished the president with addtional information concerning the department of justice are held to be responsible. While the senate committee selected to investigate Daugherty today was sifting “tips” and “leads” preliminary to begin open hearings next week, Mr. Coolidge was understood on reliable authority to be again considering whether he should ask Daugherty to withdraw from the cabinet. Daugherty himself was on his way back to Washington from Miami, F’la. prepared to assume active charge oi the department of justice and to defend himself before the senate committee. When Daugherty left Washington hurriedly several days ago, it was generally accepted in the capitol that President Coolidge had tacitly at least agreed to let him have his hearing before the senate committee before asking him to quit the cabinet. This view was based on the silence the president maintained. Disclosures regarding pardon and parole cases said to involve members of congress and other considerations not yet revealed are understood, however, to have prompted the president to reconsider. Strong aguments have been advanced to him that he ought at this time to have at the head of the depatment some one whose physical health for one thing, would permit him to attack with vigor the work pending before the department. Daugherty himself is not well and his wifes illness called him from his desk to Florida. The senate committee speeded up its preliminary work today with the intention of calling the first witness next Tuesday or Wednesday'.

INDIANAPOLIS LIVESTOCK INDIANAPOLIS 0 , March (i.-A sudden slackening of shipping orders caused a decline of 10 to 15 cents in bog prices at the" Indianapolis livestock exchange today. The decline in prices came unexpectedly to many traders who believed that the upward trend would continue throughout the week. AH grades and weights sold at the flat price of $7.70. Sows and Pigs reflected the decline, sows selling down from $6.50 and pigs down from $6.75. Receipts were 6,500. Continued light offe r i n g S ^ head and a fairly balanced demand held prices generally steady i n the cattle market. Offerings of p rime stock were scarce. A slightly weaker feeling prevaile in the calf market with fewer veals bringing Wednesday’s top 0 f $12 50 Bulk continued to sell at $H 50 to $12. Receipts were 500 The sheep and lamb market was dull on receipt of but 50 bead Prices were nominally steady.
