The State Sentinel.
"i" We really fear the villainous KnowNothings will be the death of the eventempetedgentlemen of the State Sentinel, not by shooting or burning, but by exciting their spleen, in attempting to digest which they will inevitably split themselves. Poor fellows, they see already the avalanche of indignation, |on which their vile slanders are calling down upen them, and their late moanjugs are the howlings of dispair.

that city would do well to beware of them, as they are adepts in the art of swindling. They may assume other names, but their hang-dog appearance will betray them wherever they go.—

Out—"Eiot"
Lies.
Our readers will rememember with what zest the "old line" papers quoted the horrible circumstance of some half dozen persons, two or three of them children, being roasted alive in the burning buildings during Jthe Louisville riot. This was one of the "best cards" in the whole "pack" of lies. Here is what the Coroner says about it 1 T*
"The report that the remains of human bodies had been found among the ruins of Quinn's houses is without any foundation. Up to Wednesday night, all the burnt bones found in the ruins would not fill the hollow of a man's hand, and it is as likely they were the bones of a dog or some other animal && those of a human being." 'r
And again: ir -i "He was at the scene of the recent riot and house burning on Main street, between Tenth and Eleventh, the greater part of the day yesterday and until dark last evening, and that up to that time, no vestige of human remains h&d been found among the ruins." us wj
Verily, "old lineism" should get its name changed tc suit i^s character^ and be called "old lie ism.
A gentleman, who holds his name at the service of anybody who requires it, publishes a statement in the Louisville Journal, that a gentleman who had accompanied the Reporter of the Louisville Courier all day, in examining the facts about the riot, had found that in seven cases out of eight, the foreigners were the aggressors, and when the reporter was asked if the editor of the Courier would report the facts as they were, he gives! thought not. As the facts are more ful-
ly developed, it will be seen more clearly that the exaggerations which first circulated through this community, were made to order, to influence and inflame the feelings of foreigners.
HORACE GRBELET.—This gentleman has returned home from Europe to I^ew pLichea Oft me OoVefnnfehfraror
A VERY MIRACI.E.—A gentleman who, for three years past, had leen Hfflicted with dyspepsia, yesterday stated that he had been entirely cured by the use of Hurley's Sarsa gar ill a. He had previously tried Hall's and Sand's, but Hurley's was the only effectual remedy. Go to Bacon, Hv.le, & Co., 37 Main street, and procure a trial bottle.—[St. Louis Evening Mirror.
