Col- B. W. Thompson's Oration. The celebration on Otter Creek was largely attended, and the best of harmony and good feeling prevailed. Mr. R.
The Baptist Sabbath School had a fine pic-nic near Fort Harrison. Rev. Mr. Ash, entertdftie'd the assembled multitude in a short biit pleasing address.
YP. Thompson's oration was a master enumeration of the inhabitants of New effort—full of patriotism, wisdom and York city will reach 860,000 history. There are hundreds of talent- xfs-i* h: ed orators whom we have never heard, I quart bottles filled with vet we db not hesitate to say, that Col. greon currants, apparently fresh, were r. W. Thompson, of Vigo county, In-1 recently discovered in the foundation of diana, now the Henry Clay of the fn
Untied State*! and nothing oould give
us more real satisfaction, than to know jhad
that we should live to see him duly
inaugurated President of the United Suites. We say this for reason that wo feel what we say, and know who we are speaking of—"he is capable, he is honest." What saf you, brethren of the Press, to havings his name before the National Convention, arid starting him from that point direct for the White House Come, speak out.

Hail Independence, hail, heaven's next best gift to that of life and an immortal soul.
The Company then repaired to the residence of Judge Gookins, where they spetit a few hours very pleasantly under the sound of good music on the piano. Hdrmon^ and good feeling vailed.-fhePid-Nie.

Took passage on a canal boat, and went up above Fort Harrison, where the day was passed in "dancing on the green." The Terre Haute Band accompanied them. We have heard no particulars—all was joy, of course.
Every thing passed off better than usual—the day was pleasant, no disturbance occurred to mar the peace of any one. So much for temperance.
Accident.—John Belt, of Otter Creek, Was badly burned in the face by a premature discharge of the cannon. He was stooping near the mufczle when the discharge took place. A large portion
