[now quiet City, that they may witness [the change, since King Alcohol has (been dethroned. If any lesson can teach a man to regret having voted against the temperance move, here is the ue to learn that lesson. Each day appears as quiet as Sunday, save the business hum of a lively people. Send them along, Col., melancholy will be the only disease they can complain of until they have another opportunity of voting on a prohibitory law. ,,

HARPER PORJULY!—Fact, madam you will find it there at BUCKINGHAM'S, at the sign of the Big Book, No. 3 Phoenix Row. Walk in and buy a copy, it is the best Magaeine published in this or any other country.
A GOOD LAND SPECULATION.—A few years ago a gentleman purchased 1100 acres of land in the vicinity of Island Pond, Vermont. Some of it he bought for taxes, and all of it at such low rates that the whole 1100 acres cost him only $250. Since the building of the railroad through that corner of the State, that and all other l«nds in the vicinity have been increasing in value, and within a few months he has 6old the 1100 acres for §8500.
£3T With few exceptions, the Virginia papers speak of anticipated large yields of wheut. Several farmers are now harvesting.
Every woman is in the wrong
until she cries—and then she is in the right instantly.
J3TL -Iters from Maine say the crops are looking finely throughout the State.
£3T Fresh water is so scarce in Liverpool that the streets are now sprinkled with salt water.
IT The new clip of wool is beginning to appear in market in Michigan. Prices range from 20 to 30 cents—a great reduction from last year.*
The Rochester Advertiser says
that some lots of new clip wool were sold in that market on Thursday at 26 cents.
JCy The New York canal tolls so far this year 6how a falling off of $114,108. ilr/1 ttf' A New York mechanic has indented a wooden man who can walk and talk. •,: ..
