A New Daily.
We welcome to our Sanctum the first No. of the "Daily Yincennes Gazette," a neat looking and sprightly paper, a shade larger than the American, and afforded to subscribers at 12£ cents per week, payable every fortnight, or $6 per annum. We cordially extend to it our wannest wishes for its progress and success. Keep sending it.
Attempt at Murder.
One day last week, HESRT INGRAM, a blood-thirst) ruffian, who lives near McCune's Mill, in this county, shot at a little step-son of Mr. Willis Epperson, the ball hitting him in the side, and came very near killing him. The fiend who perpetrated this bloody act, alleges that he thought it *as the boy's father when he shot. It seems that Ingram has had a grudge against Mr. Epperson, and took this chance of revenging himself. Ingram was arrested, and tried before Esq. Noel, on Friday last, who committed him, in 8300 bail, to await his trial at the August term of the Circuit Court.
This Ingram is tke same chap who burned the old log jail in this place a number of years ago, and if he gets justice done him, he will soon resume his labors in the State prison.—Rockvttle Republican.

The New platform.
We have been delayed on account of a press of job work and other mutter in publishing the several platforms that have been recently adopted by the different wings of the American party, as also that of tiie Know Somethings. We hope so soon as wo get through publishing the Liquor Law, to be able to lay them before our readers, as!well as some remarks, in regard to them, and scntijnents manifested by the Indiana press. We shadowed forth our views, when the convention first met—to some extent, and shall leave no doubt, in regard to which side we lean.

Monetery.—Our readers will do well to examine the New Bank Note List, in to-day's paper, as important changes have taken place. We are indebted for this carefully prepared list to Mr. Duy, the urbane and gentlemanly Cashier of the "Southern Bank of Indiana." Our readers may rely upon this list being corrected, wheneverany changes occur.
