JS3T The Temperance folks, at Madison, joined their brethren at North Madison, on the 12th inst., to welcome the advent of the Prohibitory Liquor Law. Tho celebration was a macrnilicent affair—about 3,000 persons being in attendance.

When tho news of the refusal reached her in the prison in Albany, it is said she made a fire, cooked a hearty meal, and ate it, and when night came on sho illuminated the window of her lonely apartment.— Sentence had not been passed upon tho unfortunate woman.

A Ride 011 the Canal. We, laat Tuesday, accepted an invitation to visit Attica and West Lebanon, in company with our friends and fellow citizens, Rev. J. Leach and Ex-Mayor, W. K. Edwards. We Btaped aboard the fine packet Reindeer, and soon found ourselves perfectly at home through the polite attentions of the warm hearted and gentlemanly commander Capt. II. Clark, and aftea pleasant trip, arrived at Attica at eleven o'clock A. M. on Wednesday. Being in a strange city, we took care to make inquiries in advance for a good stopping place, and were directed to the Revere House, on Perry St. kept by Mr. Smith & Son, late of Columbus Ohio.

low citizen, P. Q. Master, W. K. Edwards. The brethren at Lebanon have a nice Hall and the Lodge appears to be in a healthy condition. After the ceremonies of dedication were ended, a procession was formed and led by an excellent band of music, proceeded to a beautiful grove, near the village Church, where we were entertained for an hour with an address, delivered by P. G., Edwards, abqunding in gems from his well-stored mind. After following the rise and progress of Odd Fellowship, and dilating upon tho objects and aims of the institution. Bro. Edwards took up in course tho different emblems contained in every wellfurnished Lodge, and gave a terse and lucid explication of the various lessons and truth intended to be imparted by icacli. The address was well received by all present. The Rev. Mr. Leach, of this city, officiated as Chaplain on tho occasion. After partaking of a sumptuous repast prepared for the occasion, we returned to Attica, and at 12 o'clock, P. After tea in company with Ex-Mayor Edwards, we traversed the city, and were highly pleaseed with the spirit of enterprise and good taste, manifested on all hands.
