Mysterious Occurrence. About 12 o'clock on the night of 12 th inst, the body of & man was Bcovered lying across the Galena ulroed Track, bleeding profusely two wounds on tberheek andeye)wsf He was limnediately taken to station, Dr. Board men sent for» io dressed the wounds, and every »ntion paid to the unfortunate man, after an hour or two he expired. It is stated that the Hempfield linilroad Company has contracted with the Cresent Mills at Wheeling for all the iron necessary to finish the road from "Wheeling to Washington, Pennsylvania. The amount of iron required will be about 3,600 tons.

SINGULAR.—Dr. Geo. W„ Phillips brought us this morning a rose in full bloom, from his garden from the centre of this full blown rose a stem has •grown upon which there are two buds just about to burst. The Doctor tells us he has several of the same kind in his garden.—Mad. Conr.

One of the most severe operations which a surgeon is liable to be called upon to execute, was performed this morning by Drs. Opposition to all local or sectional prejudices. 4th. The Uuitcd States of America as they are, "one and inseparable." 5:h. No-Sectarian interference in our legislation, or the administration of American Laws. 6th. Hostility to the assumptions of the Pope, through the shops, Priests and Prelates of the Church, or by powers of the Old World. 7th. Restoration of our Slate naturalization laws to a correspondence with the Constitution of the United States.

Oth. Free and liberal Educational Institutions, for all sects and classes, with a free use of the Bible, God's Holy Word, as a textbook.

Oth. Full tolerance to all Religious sects, which do not conflict with the Constitution of the U. S. or the genius of our free institutions. 10th. The'Monroe doctrine'against colonization on theAmericaa continent by the nations of Europe.

The latest. Foreign and domestic general and.local news, will be carefully noted, and selections will be mado in reference to the maintenance of a high tone of morals in our columns.

The markets, of our own and of the principal commercial cities of the States, will be correctly reported daily and weekly.

All communications of an interesting nature, free from personalities, and unexceptional in language, will bo welcomed to our columns.

Strict attention to the courtesies due. to our cotemporaries will be preserved.
