Shippers are sending: a car or more of wheat from the Bloomington station every day, mostly to Tledo. L. H. Smith has sold $0 acres of his farm,fiTe miles west of the city, on the Dinsmore pike, to Elzie and O verto n.Tapp. Consideration, $1, -500. It is the intention of Prof. O. B. Clark ind family to make their home ut Ripon, Wis. The family are at present near Warsaw, where they will remain for a few weeks. The Lawrence County Bank has been opened at Bedford under the banking law of Indiana, with William C. Winstandley as president, and.J.-M. Windstandley as cashier. The appointment has been made of J. W. Crane as post master of Kirksvttle, this county. Mr. Crane was the late Democratic candidate for sheriff who was defeated by Wilson Adams. Mrs. -Alma Johnson and her sister. Miss Lena McCaughan, returned last night to their home in Morning Sun, Iowa, after spending a few months here with their brother and sister, Prof. Z. A.McCaughan and Mrs. Susie Kussell. Harry and Will Rogers are man
aging asplendid Altman thrashing j machine outfit this season, and have !
all the work in prospect that can be done. Four cents a bushel is the price charged for thrashing as has been customary. Paoli Republican: "James A. Bruner, who recently moved from this count v to Monroe count v, was visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity last week. He lives within two miles of the city of Bloomington, and i well pleased with his new home." President Swain will remain in the city long enough to road the proofs of the supplimentary catalogue that is being issued by the University, after which he will visit the world's fair and make addresses at a number of institutes. The supplementary catalogue referred to s a publication up to date containing the various changes in the faculty and a number of important additions to the course of study
made since the regular catalogue was issued. The funeral of Mrs. Amanda Mc Kissick, who died Monday evening, took place Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock, at the home of tho Misses Faris, on west 6th street. The services were in charge of Dr. W. R. Halstead, of the College Avenue Methodist church, of which denomination the deceased was a member, and the address was most appropriate for the very sad occasion, ft was shortly after 7 o'clock when the funeral ctrtege reached Roe
Hill, where the remains were buried. Considerable new wheat is being received by the Bloomingjon mills this week, as thrashing machines arc running all over the county. The price paid is 55 cents a bushel. Last year wheat was sold at 72 cents a bushel from the machine. While many sold at this price, many more stored the grain to wait for better prices. T&e better prices never ctmo. On the contary, the price fell, and rapidly too, and 72 cents has not been reached for my length of time during the year. Persons who refused the 72-ccul offer last year do not feel likeoccepting tb9 55-cent offer now.
