Robert Wilson, of this city, and Hiss Nancy Richardson, near Smithviile, were married Tuesday. Rev. Moses Adams officiated.

D. Vr. Browning and wile have leased ihe Rogers hotel at Gosport, and moved to that place this week to take charge of the business. H. J. Branoek moved into his new home on west 5th street Tuesday. The Corner. Judge Pearson returned Tuesday at noor to resume his duties on the bench. The condition of his mother remain about the same, with no hope of recovery. The Hon. "Sunset" Cox, who it will be remembered lectured in the regular university course last year on the 5Poetry of Mechanism, ' died at his home in New York Tuesday. Licenses to marry: John H. Burch to Margaret Keller, Fletcher M. Gardner to Lucy G. Woodward, Robert Wilson to Nancy Richardson, James D. Blair to Mary A. Williams. The new enrollment in the graded schools show an increase of over 100 scholars, not counting the primary room. This is a remarkable showing and is the best evidence of the growth of the city. The Ladies' Missionary Society of the Christian church elected the following officers Tuesday: President Mrs. A. At water; Vice. President Mrs. Wm. Ross; Secretary Mrs. A. E. Lemon; Treasurer Mrs. James K. Morgan. The thunder storm two weeks ago killed three horses for John Scott, who lives three miles south of Smithville Tbev were all standing under

William Lyons, who it will be remembered by readers of the Tklkphonk robbed some boys of a watch and a pair ot shoes down near the depot a few weeks ago, was tried before Judge Milieu and sentenced to the penitentiary for two years. Lyons is from Indianapolis and claims his innocence.
