Wednesday for a visit to Niagara
Falls. The fare from Indianapolis for the round trip was $5. Dr. J, C. Bell, the agent for the Bible society, has succeeded in raising abont $40 for the cause. He has canvassed the town generally and found less than a dozen families without bible3. These were supplied if they so desired. The excursion run by the Christian church to Bethany Park yesterday, was quite a success, though the crowd was hardly as large as anticipated. Expenses were paid and something over, wliich was all that was desired. The crowd was unusually pleasant for an excuisicn and the day was much enjoyed. Mrs. Ben Rogers and Airs. Joe Allen, each with their babies, were out riding Wednesday afternoon, with a horse attached ta plueton. While going down the lolg hill just
before reaching Bean B&ssom, the horse became frightened and commenced to run. The ladies were not able to stop or get out, and after running almost to the bridge the vehicle was turned over, throwing both ladies out with the babies, all landing in a mud hole. All were completely covered, the two babies be ing mostly under Water. Though bidly frightened, none were injured further than slight bruises. All were taken to Albert Whisnand's, fixed up as well as porsible, and returned to Bloom ing torn, n a borrowed buggy, the phaeton being badly demolished.
tiiata large pipe organ will be placed
in position, at a cost of perhaps $2,000 for the instrument. The trustees of the city schools have unanimously decided to use the old books and not to accept the new law. How they came to this conclusion the Telephone is at a loss to knowt as the law says the new books shall be used. The matter will probably not end until a test case has been made in the courts; The Attorney General in an opinion a few days ago, says the trustees are liable on their bond for the difference in the cost of books in case the law is not carried out.
