A BITI'-LIANT AFFAIR. Last Friday night was the scene of one of the most fashionable society events that ever transpired in the domain of the classic city of Bloomington. The occasion was the reception tendered the members of the "Skull" society by Mr. and Mrs. C R Worrall, at the "Bird's Nest," their elegant home on east Kirk wood avenue. The Skull is composed of eight members of the Junior class of the State University, Messrs Madison, Loeb, Post, (VDonnell, Axtell, Collins, Moore and Hoskins. Thi& society s-ve one of the most successful dances of the season, a few weeks ago and this event signalized their debut. ii: college and society circles. Several entertainments and receptions had been given by Mr and Mrs Worrall to different organizations, an A it was determined to make this one

eclipse all others in all that makes j

a society event successful. The rooms were made a bower of loveliness with blooming flowers and plants of rare perfume. The Montani orehestra,an Italian organization, of Indianapolis, was present and rendered the music. The guests began to arrive at the fashionable hour of nine o'clock and were received by the hostess, Mrs. Worrall, in her most charming and pleasing manner,. For an hour the guests spent their time m conversation amid the flowers, while the orchestra played its strains of sweetest music. The guests we;e each given an elegant bouquet of elegant cut flowers, and a short time after ten the signal was given to begin the movements of the mazy whirl. The dance continued until near midnight, when refreshments were anuounced. These, consisting of all the delicacies of the season, were served on several small tables, and the guests were at liberty to return as often as they desired An event that marked a new era in society circles was the "German,"' which was danced here for the first time, and was led by Mr. Hal Eeed and Miss Josephine Pittman. Twelve figures were deuced to the delight of rd! present. The favors for this new feature were ornamental souvenirs, which made very pretty keepsakes. The members of the Skull gave their "initiation" performance?, which reminded one of a geiatine Indian war dance. T he dancing and promenading; continued until the strains of "Homw .?.weer Homo'' went out upon tiuj morning air at half past three o'clock.

The affair was a complete success. adding greatly to the reputation of! the host and hostess as hosp:talie j entVrtfnm rs. Among those pivsent : w ere Hon. W R Myers, of Anderson, Ex-Secretary of Statt-: )r Dav:, ! chief Mirireon of the L N A and C ! Dr'Edward Axtoli, of Denver, I
