Mrs. Fletcher Bluett, living southeast of Clear Creek Station, died Friday afternoon. She was a daughter of Alfred Herring and was only sick a short time. Mrs. Bluett was a woman highly respected in the community where she was born and
raised, and the family and friends have the sympathy of the people. The funeral took place from the resi
dence of Alfred Pemng, where she lived at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Xhe composition of the new pension board for Monroe county meets with the general indorsement of the Reuublicvaus of the county. Dr. Bryan was a number of the board under the Cleveland admuustraikm
and Drs. Weir and VV bitted are successful physicians and were gallant soldiers. Gen. H&trison l to be congratulated on his" policy of composing the boards of soldier Republicans when the are to be found. Gen. Harrison evidently believes that there are enough good and qualified men in his own party to till all the offices.

He will be in Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa this summer, and will then proceed to Oregon, Washington Territory and California in the order named. Mrs. Hert will join bim about the 10th of May."
The Supreme Court has decided the State Loan bill, which author izes a lokn of $1,400,000, to be constitutional. This wiil be good news to the citizens of Bloomington, as upon this decision depended veiy much the progress of the new Library building of Indiana University. Mr. Earle is too well known in Bloomington by reason of his appearance in this city for several years pas;, to need an introduction to the amusement loving people ol Bloomington. Mrs. D. A. Stout has succeeded m raising by private subscription of $43 to be donated to a little !2-vearold boy of Bud" Jeffries, who is to be placed under the care of Dr. Minich, of Worthington. The boy is very badly deformed in both his legs, so much so that he can only with diflicultv get about, and it is certainly a work of charity to give the little one such an" opportunity. The Doctor will donate his work and only asks to be re-embursed for the actual cost of the trusses, &c, that will be necessary. The cost will be about $90. A large crowd of citizens Kving in and about Dolan gathered at Dolun school house last Friday in honor of
Calvin Huff and wile. This venerable couple, now nearly 80 years old, at one time lived in that neighborhood. They left Monroe county 40 years ago, since which time they
have lived in eastern Missouri, where they own some 400 acres of valuable i arming land, and aire now in their old days quite prosperous as well as popular. J. T. evening of i'u4 1st May. Mrs. Johnson lias btvn engaged in Tenanna and Medicul mission work in connection with lite mission of the U. P. church in India for some years, but came to this country about four vears ao to secure a better medical education, and has taken a three years' course in the Roman's Medical college in Philadelphia, graduating there about a year ago. She expects to return to India during the coining Year. An admission fee of 10 cents will be charged, proceeds to be given to Mrs. Johnson for hospital work in India. The public are invited to attend.

R, A. Foster and Rev. S. R. Lyons ffo to Princeton to-dav to attend a meeting of the U- P. Presbytery. The Presbytery will meet this evening at 7;30 o'clock, at which time a sermon will be preached by Rev James Ingles. Wednesday morning the regular business meeting will be hrdd. At 2 o'clock p. m. the installation services of Rev. J. Beveridge Lee will take place. Address to the pastor by Kev. A. S. Montgomery; address to the people by Rev. W. D. Ralston. At 7:30 p. m. a conference will be held, topic: The Psalms as records and types of Christian experience.
The Normal school to be conducted in the old college building during next summer, promises to surpass in attendance the one held here last summer. The Telephone believes that those who attend will have the advantage in the race for schools. . The teacher that does not adyance must go backward. The instructors are experienced, thorough teachers.
