Mrs. ftenshaw, of New Albany, is visiting friend and relatives in and about Bloomington. John C. Dolan is making arrangements for the erection of four new houses near the stave factory. Placing the broken stone on the south and west sides of the square is hard on the buggy-riders. But then the streets can be used for something else. Judge Pearson has sent up for a copy of the by-laws and constitution of our Real Estate Association. It is the intention to organize such an institution in that place at once. Henry Voss authorizes the Telephone to withdraw his name as a candidate for .the council from the 1st ward. Too much work to take the tune to make a canvass.
Hampton, tie little boy of Mrs. W. W. Durand, who was reported seriously ill at Notre Dame, is now out of danger. His mother has been with him since Thursday. John Crafton has returned from Hot Springs, Arkansas. His health is much improved and he reports a very pleasant vacation. Miiford Mathers, whoaccompanied him,will not return for two weeks. The Stinesville & Bloomington Stone Co. has established headquarters in one of the Louden & Rogers law office rooms, where a handsome desk and other conveniences give evidence that the new company means business. Miss Jane Eaton has returned to her home in Indian Creek township, after spending a few days with her sister Mrs. Elmer Nixon. The union temperance services will be held in the U. Repvblica primary convention next Tuesday evening. There is unusual interest being tnken in the contest for the various place?. Ail the candidates hare opposition except Mayor Dun lap, who will be complimented by a unanimous nomination. It is assuring, however, to know that, what ever may be the result of the contest for the balance of the ticket, it will be worthy of support, ?is the candidates for nomination without exception are Lfood men. The plans and specifications for the new Episcopal church have been received and are now on exhibition at the post office, where bids will be received for the erection of the edifise, which is to be placed on Kirkwood Avenue, east of the Milton Hight property. The structure will be of brick and stone, of the most modern style and is to cost about $2,500. Work will begin as soon as the contract can be closed. the close of the dance, and returned on the noon train Tuesdav. iSloomington does nothing by halves, and this trip was no exception. Not many cities of the size could furnish a crowd of sixty iu so short a time, and it must b considered that one of the best bands and one of the best Uniform Rank division in the State accompanied the delegation.
