HJ It is claimed the reduction of interest on the school fund will materially shorten the schools throughout the State. In many counties the full tax levy, 25 cents on each $100, has long been collected, and there will be no way to counter-balance the shortening of terms caused by reduction of interest save by lessening the salaries paid teachers, and in this way impairing the efficiency of the schools. In Hendricks, Lagrange, Delvaib and other counties where there are no huge towns and few saloons, the maintenance of the schools has long been i serious question. In DoKalb the length of the schools has br,en kepi at from five to six months by reducing the average salaries of teachers to $1.20 per day.
