The M cthodist Sunday school excursion is next Thursday o n?t forget it. The train leaves Bloomington at 6:20 o'clock, arriving at the river at 10 o'clock and returning at 5 o'clock in the evening. Go and take all the little- folks ; they will enjoy it, so will you. It is the opportunity for a cheap and pleasant day's visit. The visitors from the excursion are to be admitted free to the Southern penitentiary that day. Bloomington has rarely seen the time when there was more building going on than there is at present. There is not a carpenter in town who has not work on hand for weeks to come, aud contractors cau not secure sufficient forces to carrv on their buildings as thev would desire A ride around town reveals the fact that there are numerous new buildings and improvements in the course of construction, and the cry is for more. Small houses readily rent for from ten to fifteen per cent, of the investment and our capitalists are beginning to invest their money in this direction. Bloomington h;is a little boom of her own and is proud of it. Last Saturday was a busy day among the railroad devotees. All day long could be seen little groups of men who were earnestly discussing the pro and con of the east and west railroad. Republican and Democrat alike joined in the good work, and for once a campaign was conducted which had no political coloring. That converts were gained for the new enterprise, is a fact that needs no emphasis. As the opponents received the arguments of the railroad men, and their every objection was met, even a stranger could readily see that the friends of the railroad were gaining new recruits. There have been a few who have opposed the railroad fiom purely selfish motives, and concerning these the Tklemiokk will have some mighty interesting reading in its issues of the near future.
while at Indian Springs and returned home Saturday evening. She is now much better. Treasurer daman and Recorder Talbott represented this "court house ring' at the Ad settlers' picnic at Gosport. Of the fifty-one applicants who were examined at tho last examination, seventeen have been granted license. Mrs. Haight is spending the heated term in New York, and in September will return to Wichita, Kau. The many friends of Miss Clara Orchard will be glad to learn that she is able to be out again
