Thk Republican party of Monroe county never was in a better condition. It would be a very tame Republican that would place the majority in November at less than 200.
William Norman, of Perry township.

before the Republican Convention for
the office of Sheriff of Monroe county.
REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COM-
MITTEE.
A full attendance of the membeas
of this committee is desired at the meeting in the Grand Jury room on Saturday April 26tb, 1884, at 1 o'clock p. m., to transact, important business. Wm. F. Browning, Chairman Jos. 6. McPheeters Jr. Sec'y.
The Democracy are on the run keep them a going! TnE voice of the people is the voice of God! The list Democrat has gone down.
Benton township is evidently tired of the "ring." The Republican gain is just thirty Jive! Down with the town "ring" says Benton! It was a blow to the ring. Miers and Buskirk and Fekus and McGee have delivered the goods (Democratic voters) for the last time. Has the town "ring" heard from old Washington? If not why not? The Republican gain is just fiftyl Down with the taw ring says Washington! The Democracy used all their amunition for the April election and lost two trustees. Burnt powder is all that is left from now to November.
So fab as Lampkias' getting the Sheriff's nomination is concerned, the town "ring" will attend to that. They are for Hinkle, Mr- Lamkine, so mark it down.
The Republican gain in Benton township is 35; in Washington township 50; in Incian Creek township 62 total U7. Enough for ihree townships.
Evasr Indian Creek is tired of Democratic rule. Well who can blame them nothing but Democratic officers so long as the memory
of man gqetb back.
Tile town "ring" has been in a caucus ever since the returns came in. The boys from the country are evidently on a stampede, so far as the "ring" is concerned.
: r ttIx Thumper tones" the voice comes to the town "ring" from old Indian Creek where the Democratic majority of sixty-two is changed to three Republican. Down with the tqwn "ring" says old Indian!
The Owen Couuty Journal has a new editor one cf those fellows that looks all through his exchanges for typographical errors but misses his own paper. One of those men who can find ten faults to one good in everything he sees. Says the Indianapolis Times. "Apparently every Republican is agreed that Robert Lincoln would
indications are that he will be the unanimous nominee of the Republicans for that office. In the language of Mr. Hedill, "the spirit of 'Old Abe' is abroad in the land."
The Greencastle Times remarks truthfully: "The Young Men's Republican clubs of the State are making a com plete and compact organization from the lake shore to the Ohio river, and a most significant fact, and one
that portends business and much good, is that the organization is so strong and general thus early in the campaign. The young Republicans will make Hoosierdom howl her true sentimexfts to the four corners of the nation this year." These speeches were followed by Dr. Williams, the "silver-tongued" orator of Monroe County who talked everybody out of the Court House, except a few old wheel horses, who carried a motion to adjourn, to save their lives. Danville Republican. And her such assertion and the Republican will have a $100,000 libel suit. Dr. Williams "The silver-tounged orator of M onroe county!" The eloquent doeter is a specie found in Owen county. The Martin County H erahl, a paper whose Democracy is not to be called in question savs of the
Miers-Buskirk contract, referred to last week: "The Courier is published at Bloomington, Monroe county, and is the democratic organ up there. If the Couriers arrangement can be
earned out, they have in Monroe
county the most docile ana harmonious democrats: in the State, and their adherence to a Monroe county candidate is not to be trifled with. Besides the two gentlemen from Monroe aspiring to be candidates
for the judgeship, Judge Wilson,
the present incumbent, is asking for a re-election. A strict construction
put on the language of the Courier would bar the Judge from appealing to Monroe county democrats for
support. Still we know of no con
stitutional provision prohibiting any democrat in the 10th judicial circuit
from running for judge. Upon act
ual test we think that the two gentle
men from Monroe, will have their respective friends, whose second
choice would be neither of them,
and that it would be impossible to
transfer the whole strength of one onthe other."

Some fellow remarks that: "De man who has truth on Ms side am armed wid a shot-gun dat scatters all over a ten-acre lot an'shoots to kill." A CoKRi&roNDEXT telegraphs a Cincinnati paper: "Hon. Games G. Blaine laas heard the news from Indiana to-day he has twenty-on-e positive reasons to

of the thirty ablegates chosen to the
Chicago Contention are avowed friends of his. Without any preconcerted effort the friends of Blaine have demonstrated beyond aay question that Indiana Repiwlicans are feu him, always excepting an Indiana-man who might bejmshed to the- front by outside influences. Then they would rally around the homsrtalent"
THE BARGAIN AND SALE.
Col. W. W. Wilson, one of the leading Republicans of the State, and a staunch .Republican, is a candidate for Attorney General. He is one of the most eloquent men and strongest advocators of Republicanism in all Indiana, an excellent lawyer, and would honor such a position. There lias been at no time since the election the slightest foundation for such a dispatch. Courier. The above is a fair illustration of how the missing of a punctuation point may change the sense of an article, and how easy it is for a Democratic editor to take advantage of such a mistake when the election returns offer no other comfort, as was the case Monday last. Major IL S. Hill, ctf Clay comity, will be a candidate before the Re

braver soldier to the held than Major Hill, and. he lost a leg in the very last battle of the war, some time after Lees surrender. His running qualities, however, in the political field are bettered by reason of that loss. Major Hill was not only a good soldier, but is , as well, a
