When it grows to weigh three or four pounds it is in proper condition for the table. It sometimes attains a weight of fourteen pounds, but the meat then becomes coarse. Erior to being shipped to market it better t hat t he ca rp hokld be placed in a tank for a day or two in order that it mav lose a certain muddy flavor it has on first being taken from the p ind.

Feminine shopping excursions seem to have been attended with some embarrassments and risks, of late. An instance of its dangers comes from Fitchburg, Mass. Three respectable young ladies from a neighboring village visiied a jewelry establishment in that town, and, while there were accused of stealing a ring. Protestations availed nothing.
