Gen. Morton G. Hunter left Sun day for Chicamauga, where he will look over the old battlefields and aid in the work of the monuments. On one of the monuments will be inscribed a tribute to Gen. Hunter and his division for the great service tl ey did in that famous contest.
The Good Citizens' League, of Madison township, in Montgomery county, circulated a petition one djy last week against grunting liquor license, and in twelve hours the lt-aders secured 223 names, or twenty more than a majority.
Mrp. Frank Dewees, of Denver, Colorado, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Baker, and of the families of S. E. Carniichael and W. T. Breeden.
The managers of the : Widona Summer School, at Eagle Lake, near Warsaw, have made arrangements with Evangelist; J. Wilburn Chapman, who conducted a series of meetings in Bloomington, to take charge of . the Summer Bible School, which; will hold its first session next ear. Mrs. Elizabeth Dewar of Gent received three money orders from Dundee, Scotland, yesterday, each calling for ten pounds. These foreign orders are not often seen in this section of the country. i
Miss Eva Shelper, of Bloomington, is at one of the sanitariums for recreation. She has the peculiar distinction of being a graduate and efficient physician. Martinsville Reporter.
Mrs. Eva M. Dillon will begin dress-making in the Allen Block, over G. W. Campbell's dry goods-store, Monday, Sept. 9. She has employed Mrs. Wilson of College Ave. as cutter and fitter. Mrs. Wilson needs no recommendation, as her work here the past season has proved her to be among the best. Miss Edith Miller of this city and Mrs. Parks of Indianapolis have been employed as waist makers, and Miss Nora Peterson as shirt maker. Mrs. Dillon expects to secure the best of help and
guarantee satisfaction.

The parties formerly resided on Maple Heights, and it will be remembered that Joseph endeavored to swing himself off into eternity ons day with a log chain attached to his throat, but was rescued in the nick of time that always occurs on such occasions.

In the police court yesterday
morning ten plain drunks answered to the roll call and plead guilty each receiving a fine of ten dollars and one having a jail sentence of twenty days attached to his name. Two lewd women, Dora Thomas and Mary Scott, were each fined $14 and sent to jail in default of payment.
