The man who cheats his paper out of a single cent, will never reach that heavenly land where old Elijah went! But when at last his race is run this life of toil and woe he'll straightway go to the fiery land, where they never shovel snow! Some romantic couple, brim full of romance, applied for a marriage license yesterday morning of Clerk Woodward and after receiving them left an urgent request that their names should not be publish ed until they gave their permiss ion. It would be jut too awfully awfu to have this romatnic couples nam e given to the world as being marri ed, the very idea would no doubt shock their nerves. This foolish practice is being carried to far, as it is a senseless proceeding. The initials on the record read thusly, James A. G. to Ollie L. P. Or Continnes THE KAGIvK O o

Mrs. James Louder has returned from Morrisonville, Ill.j where she has been visiting her pister.
The social given by the Indies of the Catholic Church last night, at the residence of Mrs Jas Kelly wat a genuine success. There was a large attendance and every one was made happy with delicious ice cream and cake, with lemonade to wash it down with. The proceeds go to the organ fund. The papers of applicants who took the special examination Saturday are about all graded. Most of the Normal Mudents were t-ttc-cessful though some half dosn failed. As matters now stand there will be very few license! teachers in the county not provided with pchool. Judge Cunning will ppeak at Union ville to the old soldiers at their reunion there today. onight he will deliver his ledum "Rambles in Europe," at the Burgoon church. Tomorrow evening the people of Bloomington will have an opportunity to hear the Judge deliver this entertaining lecture on European travel, at the Christian Chnrch, and a larg at-J tendance is already assured. Geueral George Thornton, Major Berry Butcher, and privates Ross Pedigo and Roy Woodward have returned from "Camp Outing" on White river near Romonia. The boys had a good tiu,e fished muchly and caught les-ly. Killed less than 30 gray squirrels, seven muskrats, two deer, a polar bear and one jack rabbit. They had al good time just the same and were pleased with their trip. Down at Lindley's drug store the clerks have a young gray sqc irrel that they purchased some weeks ago and have about got the animal tamed. Quinine, the dog belonging to Wood Wiles, the prescription clerk, has taken a liking to the squirrel, and they play together like kittenR. Occasionally the dog is a little rough and "pinches" with his teeth, which is not considered fair by the squirrel who promptly scratches his not-e with his sharp claws, hut as a rule they get along very well and have a great time romping in the back room. There were exactly 19 loads of watermelons, "home grown" on the streets yesterday. Also a car load of Jackson county product at the depot.
