Applegate, of Cory don, is iu the city a guest of Waldo Van Zandt. He has been to Boston attending the Christian Endeavor, and stopped off on his way Lome for a few days . Walter L. Parks, formerly the ac commodaling- deputy clerk of the circuit court, and who is now successfully farming north of Blootnington, is erecting a substantial dwelliug on his farm. The coming trial of Rev. Hiushaw at Danville, is the sole topic of conversation at Danville. A World reporter was informed that no less than a hundred rooms had already been spoken for by persons living in other towns, who desire to hear the evidence. That he offered him (Wagoner) a supply (limitless) at 4U cents per one dollar, and that he (Wagoner) had refused to buy or handle it, but that the defendant Carter had left two at his house one when he called, after trying to sell him some. But beiore leaving had said that if he or any one else wanted that kind of money to speculate with, that he (Carter) or Jack Pennington would supply the demand at ihe standard price of 40 per cent. Wagoner further stated that Carter had said to him that he had passed one on Walter Lindley and James B. Clark that day. The money that was introduced in evidence bore the date of 18.S9. A number of other witnesses were introduced but were not so emjdelendant had never passed an bad monev on him at anv time, and that he had never taken any spurious coin at his store, remark ing tha. the money in question j was evidently made by a blacksmith, it wps such a aood job. j After hearing argument on both siides Commissioner McPheetei thought the evidence strong enoueh to hold him, and he was remanded u the Federal court under a $201) bond which ins lather signed and he was permitted to go. Voting Carter is the son of Coleman Carter, a well known and highly respected farmer of Monroe county, and his arrest came in the nature of a surprise to his friends. He has always borne a good reputation, and now declares that l e is innocent of the charge.
