Prof. J. A. Woociburn has returned from Vinceunes where he delivered a lecture before the graduating class in History of Vincennes University. Sarah Todd, the little eight year old girl that was adjudged insane last week by a commission as reported at the time was taken to the asylum at Indianapolis yesterday. Miss Mamie Glover has returned from Chicago and will give a dance at her home on College Avenue, next Tuesday night to her pupils at which time she wilUexecute the

Deputy U. S. Marshal Grant Agnew ndianapolis arrested Samuel Ray of Salt Creek township, last night on a charge of violating the U. S. liquor law. It is stated that five other arrests will follow.
The funeral service of the late Isaac Thilpot will lake place from the M. E. church this afternoon at 3:30. The services will be in charge of Dr. Steele, Rev. W. F. Reed and F. A. Eller. Friends of the family are cordially invited to attend. Mrs Wm Edmunds, of Indianapolis, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Walter C Lindley. She was accompanied by Miss Laura Lindley who has been making her an extended visit, also the infant child of Dr Jones.
The resignation of W. F. L. Sanders as Supt. of ths city schools, to which position he wa3 recently elected, has been accepted by the Bcwrd. A new Supt. will be selected in about two weeks, there being about a dozen applicants for the position.
Judge Hammond of Lafayette is in the city, a guest of his son, Edward, who will graduate next week from the University. Judge Hammond is a prominent jurist of Lafayete. -He will remain until after eemmentement. Lon D. Rogers and family of Evansville, are in the city visiting relatives. L.on is recuperating from
, recent severe attack of typhoid
fever. They will remain some two or threee weeks.

Wm. Shaw had the end of his little finger mashed off at Showers1 factory yesterday. He was prying the dasher of a pump up when it slipped and the dasher fell on his finger. The colored team from Crawfordsville played Axteil's Black Diamonds of this city, yesterday and the score stood 2t to i ) favor of the Black Diamond.

The Indianapolis News says that "five young men of Brown county and one from Monroe county were arretted for disturbing religious services conducted by Revs. Edwards and Spicer in Johnson township, last Saturday." The News erred. Five of the boys hail from Johnson county and one from Monroe. Brown County Democrat.

J H Foddrill is building a housj near the mill on Henry Sparks' farm. Mr Foddrill will board the mill hands. Jake and Wesley Kirk, Squire Carter, "Fatty" Foddrill and John Shipman, drove over to Greene county last week to rusticate and chase poor bunny over the hills and vales. Death has again visited our locality and claimed one of our associates. Everett Oliphant died Sunday night and was buried Monday evening at the Cannichael cemetery. Everett was a young man about twenty one years of age. He died of consumption- He was cheerful through all his sickness, and was perfectly resigned to die. He was a faithful member of Union church and a great favorite among
his school-mates and associates, j He leaves a father, one sister, and one brother to mourn his loss. As Everett had been a faithful pupil,
and friend of ours we deeply mourn his loss, but know that another
pure soul has taken up its abode j
