Jourier under its present Bgcement will be issued twice perlltil, and it will have all the attractive -features of both The World and Courier. All the World subscribers will recognize it except in name, and the Courier subscribers will continue to find in it an old friend.

Wi have received a larger number of subscribers during the last two Weeks than at any time during our ..experience in the newspaper business. The Courier and World lists combined and our large number of new subscribers make ours larger than the circulations of any two other papers in the county. From the beginning it has been the policy of The World to conduct regular departments for each of the towns and townships, and this will be continued in The Courier. People are interested in the doings of the different localities, and as The Courier will be the people's welcome paper, we will take pleasure in sustaining this feature. Is making out our substription lists under the new arrangement we are very anxious that no mistakes occur and beginning next week we will use a mailing machine that will print the name and time of expiration on each paper. In this way each subscriber can see at once how he stands on our books, and it will thus prove a convenience to us as well as to our subscribers. It will naturally take us a short time to get matters thoroughly straightened out, but in a few day? we will have our mailing lists complete and all other details arranged. Our list is by far the largest ever in the county, and is growing at a most satisfactory rate. The Courier, as our weekly edition, wil) compare with any paper in the state, and it will be our highest aim to make it grow in strength and usefulness. The weekly edition of the Courier will reach sixteen hundred copies, and we desire to extend this to two thousand. It can be done by a little effort, and we ask your support in this good work.

Our genial and good .Jookjng bachelor friend, George T.j Atkinson, of the West Side shoe store, turned detective Tuesday j and was the means of catchiBg a shoethief. Just before noon George left his room to go to Bruce & McGarey's and while absent a young man about twenty years old entered the room. As the fellow left the room George came up, and noticing the suspicious actions of the man, asked him what he was doing in the store. He replied that he had been in to sell some'pencil:-. George noticed a shoe box under his coat, and demanded an explanation. At this the fellow ran down the street and darted down the alley between Blewett's and Bruce &McGarey'sstores, with George after "(iEOKGE CHASES THE THIK.F." him at a rate that would put "Nancy Hanks" or "Alex" .'to Are You Still In As to the merits If so, read what ladies of Your Own City

Riley went to his training quarters Tuesday morning he found one of his valuable cats dead. From that time till noon, at short intervals, tour more cats died. It at once became evident that the animals had been tampered with, and an examination of the premises showed that the screen over a back window had been cut. Through this opening some poisoned food had been hrown with the above disastrous result. Nearly all of the principal performing cats were victims. The first one to die was the little fellow who walked the rope and allowed his mate, coming from the opposite direction, to jump over him. Another victim was the clown cat who would insist on saying his prayers with his hind end where his head should be. The two cats that did the swinging act are also dead, and so is the one that did some high leaping through hoops. The loss is a serious one to Mr. Riley. It means that several weeks of hard work, attended by the utmost care and patience, has been lost. There is no clew to the miscreant who did the mean and dastardly deed, and no motive can be given. The cats that were living were moved to Mr. Riley's home, and he will at once begin to train new ones to take the place of those so cruelly killed.
