The colored camp meeting at the fairgrounds last Sunday night was not a success financially. The gate receipts were not large, and the white pceplo, who are mainlj' depended on to swell the collections, were not on hand. It was rainy weather Sunday and but a few, except colored people, braved the storm, and those who did encounter lots of mud, water and darkness on their way home. The grand closing scene of the night was called Walking Around the Walls of Jericho," the said Jericho on this occasion being the floral hall building. The walk consisted of a promenade by twos around a circle singing these words : 'Another year I may be gone; Oh Lord, how long. In. some lonesome graveyard . Oh Lord, how long." There were about ninety-nine verses of the same kind in the song, and it was kept up until it got so monotonous that some of the colored boys of the rival church concluded to put a stop to the proceedings.
