The American Express company is now running a special train over the "Mohon" to carry the fruit to the Chicago, and other markets. Jerre F. We do not object to the Telephone criticising the University in the right manner, but we have come to the conclusion that the editor, together with a few of his associates,
own the institution. A spirit seems!
to pervade a great majority of Bloom ington people that it is their personal property, instead of a State Institution. Visitors can and do very readily observe this to be true. We are sure the professors are very honorable men, fulfilling their duties to the best of their ability. The Telephone men and his Republican clique would be doing the Indiana University a great act of kindness and justice if they would turn their hypocritical critici sing upon themselves and let the people of Indiana know that they are "blocks of five" men.Spencer Democrat',

At Salem near the depot is a room that was formerly occupied by a saloon, and the sign is still there. When the excursion train stopped last Thursday, a unmber of thirsty Harrodsburgboys made a break for that place, and, upon rushing in, were much disconcerted to find it occupied' as a milliner shop. The new law requiring fresh meat to be inspected alive within the county in which it is slaughtered has been declared unconstitional by a Judge in Lake ecu nty, Indiana. He holds, and no doubt properly, that the shipping of dressed beef from one state to another is a matter oi! in ter-State Commerce with which Congress only has a right to interfere. According to this, we will need no' meat inspector in Bloom ington.
