1 T Democratic party in 1892 should make a platform to meet tfae issues of 1892. While folding fast to its traditional tenets it must meet the new questions withfrankness and courage. We ,believe that it will do so. But - if it is to go backward for its plank upon the tariff question let
it take its declaration from that
unsurpassed proclamation of
Democratic principle the Tilken platform of 1876. That is j t honest, bold, chary ringing. It i . placed the party with both feet : squarely on the rock foundation i of historic Democracy. To at- : tempt to change this attitude by stretshing one foot over- to the slough of protectionist Republiv camera would be alike ridiculous,
cowardly and futile.

Editor Courier : This will be a gieat year for Kansas, as crops are the best for years, the estimated wheat yield is over 31 ,000,000 bushels, and the corn and other crops are immense. The wheat is now about all harvested and is yielding from 30 to 40 bushels per acre. The largest amount of fruit ever known, apples, peaches, peai's and appricots are nearly ripe and it would do some of the Hoosiers good to see the large peach orchards here ladea with nice large juicy peaches. Kansas will have a surplus to sell of over $1,000,000 worth of products w hich will help the farmers wonderfully This will make Kansas boom aad lands will advance rapidly, and all Kansans are looking forward to an area of prosperity. We are having delightful weather; The sun shines nearly 365 days in the year and well may it be said that part of the State is Beautiful Sunny Southern Kansas. All kinds of fruit, vines, and shrubs are a success. Pesches,appricots,nectarme3.quinces and pears of the choicest and most delicious varieties mature in perfecttion. No county in Kansas is better provided with railroads; two ol the greatest trunk lines in the West, the Missouri Pacific and the Frisco railways crosses at Oswego, the county seat, from here the traveler or shipper can reach the four points of the com pas. We have ad vantages here unsurpassed by any other country and men with moderate means and a good share of pluck and energy can do well here, and we can offer no better evidence of this fact than
the wonderful and rapid growth of
our country in the last ten years, for we can say without boasting that no country ever made the progress in improvements, in population and building up of society and developing the country in the same lenght of time as Southeastern Kansas.Charley McPheeters wants to sell you your groceries Give him a trial.
