LOCAL OPTION.
Mk. Editor: "Is Local option constitutional in Indiana?" This is a noted question, in regard to which the generality of people would like to be informed ; and as geqpiemen of the legal profession have decidedly the advantage, as to the means of information on this subject, therefore, it is respectfully suggested, that our friend and fellow citizen the Hon. .'..Robert Miers, for the satisfaction of many, (without fee or regard, give solely for the public's good,) but :candid expression of his opinion on the question above, stated. W. II. Jones.

Wow every school boy in Monroe
County knows that in September the time referred to,the Board stood two Republicans to one Democrat. But the. Telephone omits the most important item of all. At the Decern bor meeting of the Commissioners the Board became Democratic for the first time in six years. The very first stationery bill diat presented was promptly sat - upon. It was through careful scrunity given this bill by John Gil more, Democratic Commissioner, that the exposure was made, so the Telephone has taked up the keynote sounded ly a Democrat, It can go on and denounce the former Republican officials for what has been done, but we can assure that sheet that under a Democratic Board the corruption .will not be continued.

Republican scheme in a way that
will make - the Espublican leaders squirm, like eels on a bed of hot

taking Brother Brad-fate by the hand and congratulating him upon his coming over to the Lord's side. - He does not mince words in the

but deals with i-the matter in a way that Willi astonish many of the old Republican wheel horses. He says that -the action of some of the Ee-

robbery,? a "stupendous fraud," and "an outrage." Oh, what a pretty family quarrel this is my country men. -. , We are going to save that issue oi the paper and see if Bradinte will swallow his own words next campaign. His article is "mighty interest ia' read in1 ," and again we arise to" remark "accept our congratulations upon coming over to the Lord's side."
v The season' of gif t-making is at hand. Ife is said to be more blessed to give than to receive. Christmas times are gift times. The year just now nearing its close has been one of greatiprivation to many. Sickness has reduced scant savings,, and the holidays bring little joy to many hearth-stones. There are men in tiiis community who are able to give and delfeht in so doing. There are
others who are able, but unwilling
to help the needy. A little observation vv ill enuble all to see where they can do much ood, at small expense. Not in gifts of diamonds to the1 weafthy ; not in tlm presentation of. a handsome overSt to some one abnndaiitly able t00my one for him
