Grimes knows; tbath's what he fears, and that is the reason why he wants to go lo an other county. He hardly expects to win even there;, but the plan is to wear Pedigo out. He is a poor man, and it is proposed 4o bankrupt him, -discourage him, and force him . to throw up the fight. The Telephone is struggling to make ra party affair out of this contest by compairing it with the content for Lieut-Gov. It hopes by such methods to arouse the party prejudice of the Republic ans and thus whip them in to kamponing Grimes' ause. It is not' a party issue. The Taxes as a hove Mated can he paid at the Office of the County Treasurer, in the City of Bloomington, until the Third Monday in April, 18S7, withont penalty. Taxes become cine on the first of January, ar.d the tax payer may pay the full amount of uneli i;W on or before the Third Moudav in April, or may, at his option, pay one lnlf therrof on or before the said Third Monday in April, and the remaining half on or before the first Monday in November, in the manner prescribed by law. All Road 1 axes to be added to the first installment m is not paid prior to third Monday in April, the Taxes for the hole year become delinquent.

The Treasurer will not be responsible for the penalty and charges on Delinquent t&xes resulting fiom ; any omission of the person paying to state definitely, on fwhat property, in whoso name, and m what Township or Corporation it was assessed. please mention the fact. From the great number of taxpayers in the county the Treasurer cannot know what each man wishes to pav on. Call early and pay your taxes promptly; by so doing you will savepenalty, interest and costs, and me a very unpleasant duty. Also see that change is correctly made. Persons owihsr delinquent taxes should pay them at once. The late law is of such a character tl at there ;js no option 'left the Treasurer but to enforce the collection of delinquent taxes, however much ho may regret to collect the same, by sale of property. The owner of : property on the first day of April in any year, shall be liable for the taxH of that year. The purchaser of property'on the first day of April shalllbe considered as the owner on that day. Sec. 101. gTbe Treasurer has no option in rebating the Penalty on Taxes allowed to be delinquent. Taxpayers are particularly notified that all the Road Tax is due and payable with the First Installment. Nocredit will be allowed on Road Tax unless the Receipt is presented. Road Receipts will not be receiv-d in payment of Second Installment of Taxes. No County Orders will be endorsed lor persons owing Delinquent Taxes.
