TILDEN &. HENDRICKS. At this time there is a loud call for the old tioketTildpn and Hendricks. It would be very acceptable to the Democrats in this ' section of the State. A purer man and an abler Statesman than Samuel J. Tilden never lived. Of our own favorite son Thomas A. Hendricks, we need say nothing. The ticket won in 1876 and it can win in 1884. "It should have been renominated in 1880, but it is not yet too late. The people still stand ready to rebuke the fraud by which Tilden and Hendricks were robbed of the presidency

after they had been fairly elected.!

Neither Tilden nor Hendricks desire the nomination, but we believe that the majority of the Democratic party demands that they be nominated.

ONIOiSWILLB OLD SETTLERS. ; The day was pleasant; at ten o'clock about fifteen hundred people were assembled in the grove west of the Baptist church . From the interest taken by all concerned, it was agreed that this the 'first meeting at Union-; ville-would be a success, such it was. ! fter-a song the exercises; were opened with prayer by Rev.i J. M. Barrow.- Messrs Waltman1 and Browning of Nashville each then inadeH short and appropriate addresses, after which Eli K. Milieu addressed the audience in

his usual forcible manner. Eli-

as Able made the closing speech

of the ibrenoon,; and gave the dinner call, which was soon followed by a bounteous repast. In the afternoon speeches ' were made hj the following old pion? eers:; v; L. Adams, liey J. BCoxf Jas. W. Spencer, Jac jsh Stephens., Dr. J. B. Campbell, Andrew Farksaad John Knight. Exercises were interpersed with music by the choir led by D. A. Young! Much of the good man-

aement of the occasion is due

to our efficient president R. L StqheDS; i: A year ' irom this time (Augv15th 1884) there will be another Old Settlers' meeting at Unionville, with same officers.

Closed with an old "fashon camp

meeting song and hand shaking. Take it all iu all it was a very
