Now that the smoke of the University fire has cleared away the proposition is to go ahead immediately and re-build the building destroyed- The college grounds consists of about of

eleven acres, at least half of which is low ground and really unfit for building purposes. The State of Indiana is rapidly growing, and the time is near when she will demand a University in

everv sense that the term

plies. The question then arises is the present ground extensive enough to admit of the proper location of such buildings as will be required in the future? If there are any doubts about the matter, now is the time to consider, before the new buildings

are erected. Why wonldtVfcihis,

be a good time to make a bold 'strike -secure new and sufficient ground, and on it place the new buildings. With the amount ot funds now at the command of the trustees, and with the aid they certainly could obfromthis vicinity, would furnish ground and building facilities fully equal to those now afford by the present locality. The present college building could be -utilized as a preparatory department. Dunn's woods, Labertew hill, and Prospect hill, all are very desireable locations for a new Univeioity. Having taken this progressive stride we could say to the people of Indiana, "We are now ready to give you a University that will be an honor to your State: help us to foster it and extend it, and make it the pride of every booster heart." Nearly every newspaper in the United States has printed an item to the eifect that the Indiana University has been destroyed by fire. The Indiana University building was not burnt. It was- a building entirely separate from the University building proper; a building that was erected about, ten years ago for the museum and laboratory. Will all the newspapers that see this item please make the correction? The Crawfordsville Review, Hon. Bayliss Hanna editor, now appears in a new form. It is neatly printed, ably edited, and ranks with the best country weeklies in the State.

The following paragraph appeared in last week's issue of the Bloomfield Democrat An editor living in an adjoining county, right under the shadow of the University, ought to, be better posted: The new University building ing at Bloomington was struck by liscbtiiiuer 'during the storm on the 12th inst, and burned to the ground. The ?uiidirig contained the museum, library, chemical apparatus, together with many other valuable appurtenances. The loss is estimated at $ 150,000; insurance, 30,000. The loss will perhaps greatly interfere with the school. It is one of the greatest calamities that could have befallen Bloomington, as it is likely the building will never be rebuilt there. SELLS BROTHERS Enormous Railroad Shows now United. This celebrated company will exhibit at Bloomington, on Tuesday, August 7th. The reputation which the Sella Brothers have deservedly achieved will, without doubt, insure, a large attendance, for; as the com pany is largely advertised there will be crouds f people flocking from all directions. We notice in the list of performers the names of many of the most distinguished artists in ihe profession. The Sliik family of bicyclists are everywhere acknowledged as the try best in this or auy other coun- - while Viola. Rivers, the premiere equestrienne, is well known as one of the best in the country.
