THE INDIANA UNIVERSITY. The friends of the State University are making a strenuous effort to have a bill passed by the present legislature providing for the permanent endowment of that institution. Heretofore the University has lived off the biennial appropriations made by the legislature?, and now in order to do away with so much labor and trouble necessary to secure such frequent legislation it is proposed that the University shall be provided for in a permanent and substantial way. It seems to us that this is the right way to get at the matted 16 will cost the taxpayers no more, and the Univdrsity should not be bumpered

in its efforts of usefulness. It is a permanent institution, engaged in a grand work in which we are all interested, and the great Commonwealth of Indiana can

not afford to be niggardly in the matter. We are lor the old institution and a permanent appropriation. Seal Estate Transfers. For the week ending January 4, 1883: Frank E. Woriey and wife, 3 acres in Richland township, to Henry F. and G. K. Perry, for $250. Martin Brown to William E.
