The Nashville Jacksonian of last week had the following item concerning our Senator: On last Monday night while W. C. Duncan was sitting near the alley window of Roth & Day's store, some person threw a stone through the window, striking Mr. D. just below the shoulder and injuring him severely. Mr. Duncan made affidavit against Wm. Hester him with assault with intent to commit a felony. To-day (Thursday) Hester was arraigned before Esquire Hopper, and on hearing the testimony, William was recognized.

Martinsville Republican: Considerable gold excitement has developed during the past few weeks along Hacker's creek, in Marion township, Monroe county, not far from the Morgan county line. One man sold l 3 worth of the metal in Indianapolis a few days ago. The excitement has extended into Baker township, this county, and specimens of quartz containing gold from Bryant's creek were sent to the essay office in Denver, Colorado, by H. H. Newton. The essay or reports that it yields 2 in gold to the ton of ore. Hardly rich enough to pay.
