ago the township of Hart, the same
in uhich Clinton is situated voted
$20,000 in bonds to the Oilman It R.
It was contemplated that tins subsi

township, they to meet it on the tax duplicate. This, however, many of
them refused to do, and as a consequence their lands were advertised to
be sold ior delinquent taxes. In
stead of carrying the matter to the courts the" prefer to exercise mob
violence, and thus prevent persons from bidding on their, lands. Had Johnson been mobbed in South . Carolina, the same cause governing as did in Clinton, the loyal press of the country would have gone into convnlfcions over "the mob spirit which rules south of Mason & Dixon's line.

Tfcr?CaH Cnderitand It ' It is pretty safe to say that the patrons of our school arc puzzle! to know the reason the1 School Board
had for the recent changes made in
teachers for the next j-ear. Tiro years ago remarkable changes were made, removing thorough and experienced teachers, and substituting in their stead others having little or no experience in teaching, augmenting the expense af the school, at the same time, in order to make the desired distribution of favors, but the motives prompting the Board on that occasion was well understood and was condemned at the time by the people as a proceeding utterly' unworthy the dignity that should attach to the position they occupied. The reason: for the present change may not be quite so apparent, yet that they were based- upon an honest , desire for the best interests of the school no one will believe. It is reasonable to presume that no one of the trustees will have the cheek to deny that Miss $ trader is one of the best teachers that we have ever had in our school.' Her incapacity will hardly be offered as a reason for her
removal. Yet she she has been left
out and that too, after being promis
ed the place another year by one of
the trustees, and depending upon that promise when she went home, she left her baggage, books, etc., here to be used when she would re
turn. Such palpable perversion of
the sacred trust held bj the guar
dians ot the educational interests ol
our children and such treatment of
at least one of their teachers should
meet .with th e j ust condemnation of
