From the Indianapolia-Sentinol. John XV. BnskirK. The subject of this sketch was born in Bedford, Ind, November 20, 1845. The name is well known to the people of Indiana, for so many of the family have become disti nguished as orators and jurists. But John W;. Buskirk's father was a cabinet maker, and carried into the trade
as much skill as his kinsmen met mtojnrisprudenee. Fitted by the com
mon schools, the present member of the General Assembly entered the State University in 185ft, whero he remained until 1861, "when he laid down his books to. become a soldier, enlisting in the ranks of company G, Forty 'ninth Indiana Volunteers. He continued a member of the Kegimentf participating in all of its struggles, both upon the field and iaboriottsanareh, until the spring of IS63, in tbo lower country, where he was one of the vast number who were discharged on account of broken health. Returning home he re-enter ed College and contmued until the junior year, when he quit to study daw in the office of James S. Collins, ; of New Albany, Ind. All his life his study and readings have been with a view to entering this profession, and a partnership was formed with his prec eptor as soon as his maiori ty was attained. Locating in Paoli in VRfi7 hp. was elected Common Pleas
Prosecutor in'68, but resig ned in '"69 to enter the law department of the State University, from-which he graduated with honor in 1870. He next formed a partnership with his uncle, the late Judge Samuel H. Buskirk, which Continued until the election ot that gentleman to the Supreme Bench On the 29th of December, 1869, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Broad well, a lady of the greatest men tal possibilities but who died in April 17& leaving two infant children a son and daughter. Politics and the law are in a measure inseparably connected, but Mr. Buskirk is dearly in love with his profession. In one of the- foremost bars of the State, Bloom -ington, his place is not a secondary one. The firm is Buskirk & Duncan. This the last full day of " Rutherford B. Hays in the office of President of the United Spates. At twelve o'clock to-morrow the full term of four years, usurped by him, and to which Samuel J. Tilden was legally elected, will have expired. So quiet and dull has been the tenor of his administration, that he may be permitted to pass out of memory and into oblivion, but for one thing: His unpecedented and unparalleled crime ofc conspiring to be inaugurated and to hold the office of President, when he and his co-conspirators weii knew that he had not been elected, must never be forgotten. A people indifferent to such an usurpation could not expect long' to preserve their lib erties. We have had our first man who ev er came into the White House by crooked and criminal ways; it is
to be honed we have had our last.
Farewell Hayes; a glad and everlast

During the past week the force at the New York store has been kept busy unpacking the numerous boxes and packages of spring goods, direct from the eastern market. It is the intentions of the propritors to dispose of these goods rapidly as there is not room in the store for the display of all of them- In order to do this, and
considering the fact that the goods were bought at the lowest cash prices, everything will be offered at prices even lower than is asked for them even in larger cities. f hero is no doubt but what there will be a greater rush than ever at this popular re ort . ..i--g- 1 A Hl'ouderfal Discvcrs. The Siiiu For I SSL Everybody leads The Sun. In the editions of this newspaper throughout the year to come everybody -will fiud: I. All the world's news, so presented that our readers will get the greatest amount of information with the least unprofitable expenditure of timeund eyesight. The Sun long ago discovered the golden mean between redundant fullness and unsatisfactory brevity. II. Much ot that . sort of news which depends less upon its rccog nized importance than upon its interest to mankind, From morning to morning The Sun prints a continued story of the li ves of real men and women, and of their deeds, pi mis, loves, hates, and troubles.' This story is more varied and more interesting than any romance that was ever devised. III. Good writing in ever column and freshness, originality, accuracy, and decorum in the treatment of every subject. IV. Honest comment. The Sun's habit is to speak out fearlessly about men and things. V. Equal candor in dealing with each political party, and equal readiness to commend what is praise-
wort Ivor to rebuke what is blamable in Democrat or Republican. Absolute independence of partisan organizations, but unwaver ing loyaity to true Democratic principles. The Sun believes that the Government which the Constitution gives us is a good one to keep. Its notions of duty is to resist to its utmost power the efforts of men in the
Republican partv to set up another
form of government in place of that which exists. The year 1881 and the years immediately following will probably decide this supremely important contest. The Sun believes
that idle victory will be with the peo-1
pie as against the Rings ot monopoly, the Rings for plunder, and the Rings for imperial power,
