PLAN JUNE WEDDING — Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Lange of r 1 Syracuse have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Helga, to Don Allen Troyer, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percey Troyer, also live on r 1 Syracuse. The bride-elect is a 1961 graduate of Milford high school and the bride-groom-elect was graduated in 1955 from New Paris high school. The wedding will be on June 17 in the Bethany Church of the Brethren.
Mother Os Alfred Stickler Dies At Goshen Sunday Mrs. Freada Stickler. 57, of 324 Olive street, Goshen; mother of Alfred Stickler, r 3 Syracuse, died unexpectedly Sunday evening in a heart attack, which she suffered at the home of her son in Syracuse. She died en route to the Goshen General hospital in the Harris ambulance. Mrs. Stickler had been suffering from a heart ailment for about two months. Her husband, Marshall, preceded her in death on May 23. 1953. Survivors include the Syracuse son: four other sons, Joe, Claude, Philip and Frank, all of Goshen; four daughters, Mrs. Glen Keefer, Goshen, and the Misses Martha. Rose Ann, and Mary Lee, all of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Mary Sharp of Goshen; and four brothers, Harvey Linn, Claude Linn and Emanuel Linn, all of Goshen, and Alfred Linn, Pierceton. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Culp funeral home in Goshen. The Rev. Claude Beachy officiated und burial was in the Byers cemetery near Syracuse.

NEWCOMERS CLUB MEETS AT HOWARD’S Members and guests of the Syracuse Newcomers club met for a smorgasboard dinner last week at Howard’s. There were 21 members and five guests present, Mrs. Al Harding of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Thomas Smith, Mrs. James Barrett, Mrs. Glen Davis and Mrs. Paul Stillwell. Arrangements were made during a short business meeting, which was in charge of the president, Mrs. Jan Rinker, to send a basket to a needy family. Mrs. Rinker welcomed three new members. Mrs. Forrest Scherrer, Mrs. Howard Settlemier, and Mrs. Everett Ketering. A grab bag gift exchange and gifts from secret pals were received. Mrs. Fred Johnson led the group in singing of Christmas carols. Everyone enjoyed playing several party games. Hostesses were Mesdames Eugene Hall, Fred Johnson, Earl Money and Jean Rogers. The next meeting will be in the home of Mrs. Albert Bauer on January 17, and it will be a “Come As You Are” party.
