BPW Elect New Officers Thirty-five members and eight guests of the Syracuse Business and Professional club met June 13 for the monthly dinner meeting at Howard's Restaurant. At this last meeting of the club year, retiring officers were hostesses and new officers were installed by Mrs. Frank Bates. Mrs. Vernon Beckman awarded perfect attendance gifts to Mrs. Arthur Morris, one year; Mrs. Tytler, four years and Mrs. Charlotte McSweeney. five years. The retiring president presented gifts to her co-officers before she turned the gavel over to the incoming president* Mrs. W. S. Nusbaum. After accepting the gavel, Mrs. Nusbaum presented a gift to the rtiring president from members of the club and also, to her, co-officers. Plans to assist the local police and fire department in their annual carnival during the week of July 3 were also discussed. Mrs. Richard Maresh, a new member was welcomed to membership. The door prize was won by Mrs, Ruth Rapp, a former member and a guest. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Tytler, Mrs. Nusbaum, Mrs. Leonard Barnhart and Mrs. Gants. Yeager Attended the dedication services of the new church building of the First Church of God in Columbia City Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lindemuth were in Portland over the week end to attend the funeral of Charles Franks of Fort Lauderdale, who was a native of Portland retired and a Hoist there. 28 Tagged Fish Wins Prize For Ft Wayne Man 2nd Week
Harry Koestner of Fort Wayne ■ was the first fisherman of the | season to register a 28 tagged! fish in the Fishin' Contest nowin progress at Wawasee and Syracuse Lakes. This was the second week of the contest. Linda Cromley of Goshen won second prize when her name was drawn from the hopper at the Ken Harkless Wawasee Boat Company, where the names are placed of all who register, their fish in the contest. A 28 tagged fish automatically wins first prize. When there are no tagged fish registered for the week, prizes are awarded by. drawing names from the hopper. This gives everyone from the fisherman who fishes the lakes with a guide, to small boy who catihes his fish with a bent pin on the end of a string tied to twig a chance to win because the names of everyone who registers a fish in the contest are placed in a hopper at the Harkless boat company for the drawing at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Weekly winners are also eligible for the grand prize given at the end of the season and for the special prize to be given for the largest fish caught. Any Channel 28 tagged fish automatically wins first prize. The weekly prize is a Bronson ‘•63’’ push button rod and reel; second prize is a Bronson Classic Mother Os H. Kirkdorfer Dies Mrs. Marie J. Kirkdorfer, 63. 1009 South Tenth Street, wife of Hubert Kirkdorfer Sr., died at 7 p.m. Friday at the family home. Mrs. Kirkdorfer had been ill for seven months with ccaancer and was bedfast one week. A native of Goshen and lifetime resident, Mrs.- Kirkdorfer was born March 16. 1898. She married Mr. Kirkdorfer Feb. 7, 1920. Mrs. Kirkdorfer was employed since 1950 in the South Side Soda Shop, operated by her son. Hubert Jr. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include the husband; Lake; two grandchildren; one one son. Hubert Jr., Syracuse brother. Charles Vanderßeyden. Goshen; and five sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Cora> Swoveland. Route 4, Goshen. Mrs. Glenn <Nellie) Wert, Mrs. Delbert (Catherine) Wagner and Mrs. Lewis <Magdaine) Bloss. all of Goshen, and Mrs. Calvin (Anna) Long, Stone Lake.
