To Europe With USO Concert Choir Tour Miss Kitty Grummann of Indianapolis and Wawasee Lake, leaves July 14 to join the University of Miami (Florida) concert choir for ten days of rehearsal at Asheville, North Carolina, before leaving for a tour in Europe. The twenty-member choir will fly in a go verm ent plane on a USO concert tour of ten countries and will be gone for eight weeks. All are students at the Florida university and were chosen from the combined university choirs. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Grummann. Kitty has just completed her year at the university. She was a finalist in the 1969; Mermaid Festival Queen contest' at North Webster and also for' the 1960 Orange Bowl queen at Miami.

Bridal Showers For Miss Linda Lantz Miss Linda Lantz who will become the bride of Second Lt. James C. Connolly on Friday. June 23. in the Syracuse Methodist Church was honored Thursday noon. June 15, at a luncheon and bridal shower at Howard’s Restaurant given by Mrs. Hubert Anglemeyer and Mrs. C. K. Kinder. Gifts were presented to the bnde-tobe following the luncheon. Judy Bryan Wins At Twirling Contest Judy Bryan competing in a National Baton Twilling Association contest Sunday at LaPorte won a trophy for placing first in the Miss Personality event in which 26 girls were entered. Judy also placed second in Special Events for 12 to 13 year old girls with Sue Traster placing fourth. In the flag event, Judy was third in the same age group and placed fifth in Fancy Strutt for 12 year olds and over. Sue Traster was fourth in this event Sue also placed third in Military Strutt. Wins State Title In Baton Twirling Contest Sue Ann Traster. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Traster, placed first in the State Military Strutting, Junior Division, of the Drum Majorettes of America contest held Saturday at Harlen. sndiana. She placed second in fancy strutting and third in one baton twirling.. Sue Anne was also runner-up for Junior Miss Maporette of Indiana. For this title each contestant must model a party dress and also present a 2% minute show routine with some type of twirling. Sue Ann presented a dance and twirl routine to the music of Lonesome Mama Blues. She is now eligible to advance to the International Contest Aug. ust 20 to 27 at Fayetteville. N.C. In addition to the state title, Sue received a trophy for each of the five events in which she . placed. over Pilchers. For the first week’s standings, the Lions and Bank teams have a one win no loss record while Rotary and Pilchers show' no wins and one loss each. Maxwelton Ladies Start Season Play Maxwelton Ladies Day Golf Association had it’s first daw of play on Tuesday, June 6, following a “kick off” luncheon the preceding Saturday at the Pickwick Lounge. Officers this year are, Marge Newcomer, president; Rose Matthews, vice president; Eleanor Eisenhour, secretary and Mildred Lotter, treasurer. At the business meeting following the luncheon, June 16, various committ flees wene appointed including Bake Cripe, handicaps; prizes for 18 hole Ogle, prizes for 9 hole players; Betty Kline, chairman for an invitational to be held July 25. Attends Institute In Milwaukee James Payne, R.R. 3, local manager of Budget Loans, attended an institute on consumer finance last week at Marquette University in Milwaukee. The institute trains operating personnel in the consumer finance industry to do a better job for their firms.
