Lady Bowlers Present Awards At Banquet The Thursday Night Ladies League held their annual banquet May 11, at the Pickwick Lounge, with. attendance of 90. including both members and guests. Sponsors attending were Joe Morganthaier. Jr.. Marise Smith, and Mrs. Clark, owner of the Blue Shingle. The meeting was'conducted by Doris Darnell, president. New officers elected for the i < oming season were Ann Galla--1 an. vice president; Bobbie Smith, treasurer; Beverly Hamman. S t-at-Arms. The president and secretary will continue serving for the second year of their term. Tables were beautifully decor-' potted craniums. balloons and flags Place cards were in the form of a small bowling pirn, with the members name dnd average on it, Each team had one members winner of.the door The banquet was under the direction of Susie Tytler.chairman. Wawasee Bowl was winner of the championship trophies, and members of that team are Thelma Hattersley. Louise Stoeltn I..Stahley, Katie Graff, and Dor.s Darnell, captain. Recommendations For Chemical Weeding Thirty-two different chemicals are recommended for weed control in Indiana, points out James L. Williams Jr.. Purdtie University extension bontanist. These are avaibable for weed ,-ontrol in crops and lawns as well as woody "plant control and specific weed eradication. In addition to selection of the proper material, the right dosage, correct timing and the right method of application are essential for ■effective weed control. Williams .explains. The 32 recommended chemicals with details concerning their uses are listed in a Purdue extension publication. “Weeding with Chemicals — 1961 Recommendations." It also gives rates to be used on specific crops and weeds along with methods and proper time of applications.
