Byler Motors Invites Public To Open House Mr. and Mrs Vem Byler of Byler Motors are inviting the public to an open house Saturday at their recently completed service station south of Syracuse on Road 13. Byler bought the used car business from his brother. Bob. in June 1960 and added to the new office and senice building a 65 foot addition which houses a complete automotive sendee. In addition to the “Used-Car-Rama" on a 2-acre lot. Byler has an associate dealership for selling new Ramblers. Ollie Cppe and Bob Emmons take care of the service department which offers everything in the senice line that a car needs for d ep e n d a b 1 e performance. Cripe>has 43 years of mechanical experience and Emmons 14 years. Floyd Disher and John Holloway are the salesmen with the force and Mrs Byler is the bookkeeper for the firm. Open house will last from 9 ’til 9 There will be all the root beer anyone can drink and four prizes given away at the close of the day when names are pulled from "a hat" after registration is closed. "We will be glad to have anyone browse around the lot and inspect our senice department at their leisure." Byler said. "The welcome mat is out."

Cornerstone Is Placed At New EUB Church
Dr. W. S. Parks, district superintendent of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, and the Rev. Kennard Robinson, pastor of the Calvary EUB Church here, conducted the services Sunday morning as the cornerstone of- the local congregation’s new church was set in-place. More than 250 parishoners and friends attended the ceremonies, at the new church building on Ind. 13 south. The group went to the new church in a caravan following worship services at the old church on South Harrison Street. A copper container of church records: bulletins, and other historical materials was sealed in the cornerstone. Included in the box were membership records of the Calvary - EUB; recent bulletins of church activities and building reports: names of pertinent committees, and church officials. A silver trowel presented to church officials and members by Alvin O’Keefe; Plymouth, architect of the new structure, was used to place the mortar on the cornerstone. At the conclusion of the ceremonies members and friends were taken on a tour of the new limestone church, located at the south edge of Wawasee Village.
First Graders Will Register Wednesday Registration for first grade pupils entering school in September will be conducted Wednesday. May 17. in the kindergarten room. Principal Edgar Speer announced , today. Hours will be from 8:45 to 10:45 am.. 1:00 to 3:00 pm. and 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Parents are asked to present a certified birth certificate. This is required for proper registration. Do not take a hospital certificate. Also, a list of diseases and shots the child has had is required. Safety Check Schedule Set Up For Syracuse Syracuse police conducted the first full scale safety check with the help of the local civil defense unit May 8 at the check lane set up on East Benton Street in the 100 block. There were 300 cars and 16 trucks checked. Only 218 cars and 13 trucks were approved. The majority of defects were rear and stop lights »65 1 . headlights 9. mufflers 6. horns 3. wipers 1, brakes 1 and safety equipment on trucks <2>. Check Lane Schedule Dates for operation of check lane on East Benton Street are May 16. 24. 26 and 29 from 9 to 11 am. and 4 to 7 pm. Service stations participating in the safety check program are Auer's . Mobilgas. Darr's Gulf. Fisher’s Shell and Max's D X/ All car owners are urged to have vehicles checked at either the check stations or check lane. Cooperation in this program is appreciated by the police department.
Summer Theater's Opener Set For July 4
July 4 has been set as the opening date for The Enchanted Hills Playhouse on Lake Wawasee Four plays and four musicals will be presented in a bam theater just off Ind.—l3-A in the Enchanted Hills Ijake Cottage Addition at the east end of the lake. In announcing the opening date. Jon Baisch. director, also listed the productions. Running from the opening until July 11 will be “Anything Goes.” one of Cole Porter’s finest musical comedies. Following this, from the 12th to 16th. will be "Bus Stop." a comedy about a group of travelers marooned by snow in a small Kansas town. 4 On July 18 the theater will premiere for the area the Broadway hit “Once Upon a Mattress.” "The Man in a Dog Suit,'’ a comedy- about a henpecked husband

Seniors Leave Sunday On Their Annual Trip
Forty-nine seniors and four chaperones from the Syracuse High School will board the Balti, more and Ohio “Capitol Limited —Columbian” here at 7:04 pm. Sunday, for the annual class trip to eastern points of interest. The class members will arrive in Washington at 9:25 am.. Monday, and after a visit with Senator Vance Hart-ke <D-Ind.> will wstt sessions of tne Senate and House of Representatives. Also planned are stops at the Library of Congress and the new Supreme Court building. Monday afternoon, the class will check in at the Sheraton Park hotel. Dinner will be at the Casino Royal Night Club, and a . night tour of the nation's capital will follow. On Tuesday morning, after breakfast at the hotel, members will visit the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. Lincoln Memorial. White House. Smithsonian Institute, Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery including the Tomb ofthe Unknowns. and Washington’s home and estate at nearby Mt. Vernon., Will Visit FBI Tuesday afternoon's tour will be highlighted by a visit to the FBI Building. At night; a second night tour of the city is planned, along with stops at the Archives Building and Washington National Airport. Wednesday will be a “free morning.” for the seniors. Lunch will be at Sholl’s Cafeteria, and 'in the afternoon the local delegation will go by bus to Annapolis, Md., to visit the U.S. Naval Academy and other, sites of interest. This thought-provok-ing mystery of an atheist whose son is saved by a miracle, will run until August 6. Russell Dado will star in “Where’s Charley?” which will run from August 8 through 15. "A Majority of One” a warm comedy that hits very sharply at prejudice will have ita first showing in the area from August 16 through 20. The season will close with “Wonderful Town.” the musical version of “My Sister Eileen,” plays from August 22 to 29. Baisch also announced that season tickets were now on sale. Need Donors To Meet Blood Quota Tuesday Donors are needed to meet the quota of 125 pints set for the bloodrpoble visit in Syracuse Tuesday at the school house, Mrs. Charles F. Kroh, local recruitment chairman, said today. With the assistance of the four Syracuse doctors, E. L. Fosbrink. Robert Craig. Jack Clark and Wm. Zimmerman, taking shifts, the program will begin at noon and continue until 6 p.m. Appointments made to date fill about a third of the quota, Mrs. Kroh said. Walk-in donors will be welcomed as well as those who can make appointments ahead of time by calling GL 7-2077, she added. The SyracuScene . . . Box 26. Syracuse. - The bam theater will feature arena style staging and an allprofessional company from New York City. Baisch, one of the owners and managing director of the new “Enchanted Hills Playhouse.” is a graduate of Northwestern University, having studied speech, theater and television there. Since graduation, he has worked continuously as a professional actor and director. He has directed all phases of theater, including drama, comedy, musical comedy, and opera and has over 200 major productions to his credit. In addition to the legitimate theater. Baisch has appeared frequently on television, and he has turned his hand at writing with several radio and television scripts and one produced play.
