Track Team Adds Third Victory The Syracuse track team walked off with an easy victory Tuesday over Sidney* and Claypool with an overwhelming score of. 98 to Sidney's 31 and Claypool',s 8. The meet was held at home. Syracuse won eleven out of thirteen events and also picked up points for second and third places. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Haines were Saturday overnight guests of her sister, Dr. and Mrs. William Conner of Fort Wayne. Mrs. Carrie Champlain is now at home at the park after spending some time at her home in Napannee. and visiting friends. Mrs. Cloy Eiler has returned for the summer .after spending the winter months with her son David and family in South Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Garth Haines shared in a family dinner. Ea-s---ter Sunday, at the home his mother. Mrs. Charles Haines, of Poneto. Indiana. Rev. and Mrs. Paul Eppley entertained the ministers and their families of the Syracuse Group of the E.U.B. Church. Friday evening with a chili supper. Included in this group are the Nappanee. Island Chapel. Solomon’s Creek. New Paris. Ligonier. Concord-Indian Village, and Syracuse churches. Mrs. Walker of Nappanee was unable to attend because of the illness of a daughter. Mrs. Carrie Champlain was a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Stidham entertained at dinner Sunday, in honor of son Kris, who was five years old on Friday. Guests were Mrs.’ Stidham's parents. Mr and Mrs. Raymond Leedy of Pierceton. United Utilities Re-evaluates Stock Telephone company officials in Warsaw, today announced that a 2-for-l stock split was approved by the stockholders of United Utilities. Inc., at the annual meeting held in Abilene. Kansas United Utilities is the parent company for United Telephone Compahy of Indiana, Inc., and Ohio Telephone Service Company which operates a combined total df 97 exchanges in Indiana and Ohio. Authorized capital was increased to, 10 million shares from 3 million, and the par value was reduced from $lO to $5 a share. The 2-for-l stock split resulting from the adjustment in 4 the par value will result in 5.127.958 shares being outstanding. Present anriual indicated dividend rate on the new shares is 80 cents. The ; utility,' which provides various services to some 550 communities in 16 states, spent about 25 million dollars on new facilities last year and has budgeted 27% million dollars for 1961. C. A. Scupin, president, told stockholders. ‘lt is the policy of, the company to secure the broadest possible market for its stock.” he said. ' Present shareholders now number in excess of 16,500.
