EUB Churchmen In Session At Oakwood Park Highlighting the 116th Annual Session of Indiana Conference North. Evangelical United Brethren Church, was the ground breaking ceremonies for the new multi-purpose building in which the 117th Annual Conference met June 6 to 9. 1961. Dr. R. H. Mueller. Bishop of the West Central Area, of which Indiana Conference North is a past president. Superintendents Wilson S. Parks of South Bend, Marshall Chambers of Fort Wayne, and V. A. Carlson of Logansport, assisted in the ritual. The first spade-full of dirt was turned by Bishop Mueller, with each member of the building committee helping. These included Dr. parks, who is the general' chairman; D. C. Kime of Plymout; Paul Eppley, Syracuse; Merrell Geible. Warsaw; F. H Willard. Elkhart; Paul Carmay. South Bend; H. J. Berger of Hammond; Garth Shepard, Kokomo: James Sutherland. Lafayette; Cecil Hendrix of South Bend; Elmer Zimmerman, Rochester; and Mrs. Karl Tauber of Frankfort. The conference Male Chorus sang two special numbers, with the congreation joining in on the second. "Blest Be the Tie That Binds.” Construction will start later this summer, when the regular programs of Oakwood Park will be completed. The old tabernacle. which has stood since near the beginning of the present century, will be razed, along with the former educational building to the south. Included in the new building will be the auditorium, classrooms for laboratory schools and other special schools, and a new and adequate office and admin istration building. Mr. Alves O’Keefe, of Plymouth, is the architect. Local Pastors Return The conference closed Friday evening, with the assignment of fields to the pttstors. The SyracuScene . . . Mrs. Georgia Miller returned Mondav from a six day trip to Saltville. Virginia, with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Morgan of Chesterton. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fisher were hosts to the Sportsmans Bar bowling team at a steak fry Sunday evening. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Poyser. Nelson Felts. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brown. Sharon and Margaret of Rochester, formerly of Syracuse, attened the Northern Indiana E.U.B. conference at Oakwood Park. While here they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. I. J. By land. Mrs. Walter Powers of Beaver, lowa and Mr. and Mrs. John Ruehle and sons Charles and Donald of Vinton, lowa were recent guests of the Orlie Brown and Eugene Brown families. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mitchell were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell and family of family of Nappanee. Tuesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mitchell were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Young of Galesburg. Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Rigdon and son. Mike. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thornburg and son. John. Mrs. E. L. Fosbrink and daughter. Susan, and Kay Bender wall spend a day next week on the Purdue campus. Mike, John. Susan and Kay plan to enter as freshmen in the fall. The group will attend orientation programs.

Plan Commission Appoints Eight Members Appointment of Einar Anderson to the Syracuse Town Plan Commission was announced byHarold B. Gray, president, at the regular meeting of the Commission Tuesday’ night at the fire station. Anderson fills the vacancy created by theresignation of John Weatherhead when he was transferred by his company to the Cleveland office. J. Barton Cox was elected secretary for the balance of the year since Weatherhead also served in that capacity. Eight members of the-12 man advisory committee were appointed. Bud Cripe and Dee Stiver will represent District No. 1; John Dennis and Mrs. Dorothy Lohman. No. 3; J. A. Ragdon. Sr. and James Kirkwood. No. 5: Dr. W. R. Shank and Harry VanHemert, No. 6. District.- No. 2 and 4 have not yet chosen their representatives. Three members of the commission were appointed to a committee to direct enforcement of the zoning ordinance. These members are J. B.
