SYRACUSE FFA Ten members attended a meetinf of the Future Farmers of America Friday in the Ag room of the high school. Earl Roberts, vice president, presided.. A. A. Pylant and Ronnie Roberts. temporary leaders for the summer, were present. Leadership was discussed and Roberts asked if any members could attend leadership camp. Next meeting is scheduled for July 13. Burton Butt, reporter. LOCAL SPORTSMEN IN OUTBOARD MOTOR RACES Stover Hire competed in the stock outboard motor races at Terre Haute Sunday. He placed second in the class “B” runabout race with two world champions and a runner-up among the nine boats entered. In the class *'C’ runabout race with seven boats. Hire placed third Jan Rinker entered the nm about race and placed second. Accompanying the men were Mrs. Hire and Mrs. Rinker and son. Randy. Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Arndt of Louisville. Ky. left Friday for home after attending the annual Indiana North Conference of the E.U.B. church at Oakwood. They were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stucky for the four days of the convention.

Dorothy Jones Heads South Shore Golfers Dorotiiy Jones, of North Webster. was elected president of the South Shore Ladies Golf. Association at their recent luncheon. Gale Van Zant, of Syracuse, was elected vice president; Mary Stalter. of North Webster, secretary’; and Betty Socks, of Syracuse, treasurer. Being PGA week, the Calloway scoring system was used, and prizes ■were won by Grace Perry and Jean Rickel, of Warsaw. and Mary Stalter. of North Webster. PARTY FOR MISS HAMMAN Miss Lillian Hamman was entertained by members of the elementary school faculty at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Winston Gantz Thursday evening. A gift of an electric skillet was presented Miss Hamman who retired from the high school faculty this year. Mr. and Mrs. Court Slabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Beck were also guests. Faculty members present were Mrs. Ruth Rapp, Mrs. Arthur Morris. Gil bert George. Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Ditmer, and Miss Mary Ann Stieglitz. Hospital Notes . . . Mrs. Norma Personett and Patricia Steffen, both of Syracuse, were treated at Goshen General Hospital. Mrs. Lester Modesitt is convalescing at home following major urgery at Goshen several weeks ago. She is reported to be greatly improved. Judy Stucky, daughter of the James Stuckys. underwent min or surgery at Elkhart Hospital Thursday. Mrs. Harold Renner is a patient at Elkhart Hospoital where she had surgery’ Wednesday. Bob LeCount had surgery at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne Thursday. Sara Drake was treated at the Goshen General Hospital for a right hand injury suffered at her home here. James Graff, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Graff, of Syracuse, was treated
